Arrival Story:
Tonka was at the local humane society. My son and I stopped by to look at the dogs. I have always been a "cat person", and have never really had a dog. Tonka started barking at me when I walked by. My husband said "no dog" so I got my mom to adopt him. When she went on vacation I had him for 2 weeks and she let me keep him. He is the best dog ever.
Bio:
Oct 2008 - Tonka was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Aug 28. It can not be removed surgically. He responded really well to prednisone after a few days. He was very sick and we decided to try to make the best of his time left by trying to shrink the tumor with radiation treatment. Tonka has been at the WSU teaching hospital since Sept 9, and he is coming home tomorrow. He has responded well to the radiation treatment, and we are hopeful that we will have a year or more with Tonka before the tumor grows back

Tonka is the best dog. I have always had cats, Tonka is really my first dog.
I adopted him from a shelter. The person who had him before me brought him back to the shelter after only one week!
He does not bark or growl at anyone, or at other dogs, even if they growl at him. He is such a happy boy all of the time (except for when I try to clean his ears).
He tolerates my 4 cats, which can not be easy for any dog!!!
I am lucky to have him, he does not have even one bad habit. He is also very handsome. He has beautiful thick fur, and he likes being brushed.
