Birthday:
September 15th 1999

Likes:
Freeze dried liver bits

Pet-Peeves:
being bothered by her furkid siblings, sharing, not playing frisbee

Favorite Toy:
frisbee and anything round that will bounce. Also, any plush toy with a squeaker so she can gut it.

Favorite Food:
Medium rare steak, chicken

Favorite Walk:
Peaches is not a good walker - she doesn't care for the neighbor dogs

Best Tricks:
fooling the others into going outside so she can have us all to ourselves to play with

Arrival Story:
She was a christmas present from my mom. When asked why her tail had been docked, we were told that Georgia breeders frequently did that (NOT TRUE). My mom called her a real Georgia Peach. VOILA! My hubby did not want any more pets - very vehement about that. When we came into the house, I said - "Hey, do you like Peaches? - to which he replied, "I love Peaches". So I handed her to him and it was love at first sight.

Bio:
Peaches has a brother Mick, a sister Mattie and another sister TIppy. Peachy's sister Tippy is now at the Rainbow Bridge playing with the others and watching for us. Peachy has recently been diagnosed with Cushings Disease. The treatment is successful so far and she seems much improved. Poor Peachy - she ruptured her ACL and had surgery to repair it. She's much better now but isn't allowed to play frisbee for a few more months. She's very upset about that and tries very hard to get us to play with her. Well, we tried to throw the frisbee and she hurt herself - so we are giving the frisbees away. We don't want to risk reinjury or injury to her other leg. She is just going to have to be more spoiled in other ways. As long as we keep the Cushings under control, everything will be fine. Peachy is EXTREMELY spoiled. Peaches will be celebrating her birthday today with cake and icecream and lots of presents. We only hope we will have her with us for another 13 years.

Cushings update

I was back to see Dr. Walker in December who gave me an okay bill of health. I don't need to be rechecked until June! Hooray! I still have a bunch of pills to take every day, tho but they hide the nasty pills in liverwurst so I can't hardly taste them. I hope mom and dad don't think that I don't know the pills are in there. Mom and dad took us to Disney this December. We stayed in the motor home at Fort Wilderness. We did a lot of walking there around the pet loop and in the pet areas. The Christmas decorations were really cool. It was kind of cold tho. Mick and Mattie don't mind so much but the cold makes my joints hurt (just like my mom!). We are going to Daytona in February for the Daytona 500. I hope they have a nice dog walk area. I'm pretty sure mom and dad will bring lots of treats and toys for us to play with. Mom has been taking me for a short walk every day. I really like that. But she won't let me chase the cars! Wish it would warm up some. But it's fun snuggling with mom and dad in bed.

We just got back home from another wonderful vacation at Fort Wilderness, DisneyWorld. It's a fun place. There are so many new people who want to pet me and tell me how pretty I am. Mom won't let me chase the armadilloes or bunnies that are all over tho. She's no fun! We did get to go to the dog park and run around. It's a great place.

House Arrest

Poor Peaches - trapped in a pen! I have to sleep in a crate so I don't tear out my stitches and wear this annoying thing around my neck. The worst thing is that I can't sleep on the bed with my mom (she's afraid I'll jump down and rip my stitches out). The stitches come out on April 6th so it's getting closer. I miss my frisbee playing. Keeping quiet is so boring. Mom's taking me on walks but it's not the same as chasing squirrels and chasing the flying circle. Mick and Mattie seem to enjoy that I'm stuck in this thing. Dr. Niehaus called and gave us good news - the masses were benign and as soon as my hair grows back, I'll be good as new! Mom is pampering me even more than usual and I'm lovin' it.
