Likes: His brothers, Grey and Tar, and his bones...all 30 of them.
Pet-Peeves: When someone touches his back paws...he gets grouchy, but it's all talk. Sometimes, you can't even look at his feet without him grumbling. Of course, he's all talk. He's too lazy to actually do anything about it.
Favorite Toy: Stuffed animals and his six zillion beef bones...they're everywhere!
Favorite Food: Pumpkin, any and all raw meat, noodles, po-boys...whatever we're eating, Brown wants his share
Favorite Walk: Anywhere we go together.
Best Tricks: Fetching the cat
Arrival Story: We adopted Brown from HOPE for Animals in 2001, when he was 1 1/2 years old. Brown was taken in by his foster mom after living at a nearby boat launch for six months. He somehow knew that this family was a foster family because he immediately jumped in their boat and went to live with them for about half a year. Following the death of a cat we rescued (we only had her for 3 weeks), we decided to adopt a dog. We drove about a hour to the foster family's house, and when my then-boyfriend-now-husband saw Brown, he knew Brown was the one. We played with him for a while and after a home visit later that week, we drove back the following weekend to officially take Brown home. Because Brown had been abandoned at a swampy Louisiana boat launch and lived there for so long, he had a bad case of heartworms. We went through a long treatment process with him, bringing him to the vet weekly to monitor the condition of his lungs. But once his treatments were through, he was fine. He lived with his daddy and great-grandma for a couple of years before his mommy and daddy were married, and once, when his great-grandma was very sick, he kept her company for hours until his daddy came home and discovered that she was passed out on the sofa. Brown lived with his mommy, daddy, and new brothers, Grey, Charlie, and Deuce in Mississippi while his mommy attended graduate school. The crew is now back in their hometown with a new brother, Tar, and a human sister, Addisen.
Bio: Brown has been part of several education programs in elementary schools as part of HOPE for Animals' attempt to educate local youths about the responsibilities of owning a pet.
Forums Motto: Anytime is naptime!
I've Been On Dogster Since:
I think I slept for a week solid. I'm so bored. I have all these toys, animals, and people to play with, but I just rather watch tv and sit on the couch. I guess I'm calming down in my old age, even though I'm a young six. Anyway...
On Saturday, Grey and I went to the park. We haven't been there since Mommy slammed her foot into Grey's head and got stitches. So we ran and played, but it was really hot, so I was very ready for a bath and a nap. After all that excitement, I decided to play a trick on everyone. I pretended that my leg was hurting, so I limped around all night. But I kept switching legs, so no one knew which one was supposed to hurt. After a while, the joke got old so I quit faking, but I thought it was pretty funny, even though I made everyone worry about me.
Last Saturday, Mommy and Daddy took us to the park. We hadn't gone in a while, so it was high time we got to run around like crazy dogs. We had a great time until it was time to play fetch. Daddy had been kicking the ball to us, and Mommy decided she would kick the ball too. Well, on her very first kick, Grey ran right in front of her foot, and her foot slammed Grey in the mouth. Mommy screamed at Daddy to check Grey's teeth and jaw, but Grey had no idea what had just happened. He was still looking for the ball, and he wasn't hurt at all. Meanwhile, Mommy leaned on the fence and screamed for a little bit until she realized that her foot was bleeding. Daddy sat her down and pulled off her shoe only to find that her sock was covered in blood. So he ran with us boys back to the Jeep while Mommy hobbled along. Apparently her foot was hurt badly enough to warrant a trip to the hospital because Daddy drove us back to the house. Then he brought Mommy to the hospital, where she got 5 stitches in her toe. It looked really bad, but now it's much better. I'm glad she's okay, but I do like that Neosporin she puts on the wound. It's rather tasty.
This is going to be fun! I know we've got presents waiting because I snuck into the room Mommy hid then in. I know there's some biiiiiiig bones on there, but everything else is wrapped, so I have no idea what else we have. I can't wait to find out!
This is Grey and Charlie's first Christmas. Grey came to us almost a year ago after Christmas time. I still had my big bone, which he ate. I didn't know any dog liked to chew that much. Charlie is getting some toys as well, but he isn't making the trip back home with us because Maw-maw doesn't like cats. I hope he'll be okay home alone. He has this big cat tree thing, an automatic waterer, tons of food, and he can sleep on our beds or Mommy and Daddy's bed all he wants.
I know that Mommy will be happy to take down that tree. She's so tired of Charlie getting into it. He has knocked off so many ornaments, and yesterday, he actually climbed into the tree and panicked. He doesn't understand that you have to behave yourself and ignore those Christmas decorations. Grey and I have been extra good these past few months, and we didn't knock off one ornament or destroy one decoration, although Grey did eat the noses off Mommy's stocking and this little Christmas dog. But she said she can glue it back on, whatever that means.
So with all that said, the last thing I want to do is tell you my Christmas wish list. I would like:
A really big rawhide bone
Some kind of chew toy
Maybe a stuffed animal
A big bag of dog food for the rescue group I came from
A warm place for all the scared, cold, homeless animals
