Arrival Story:
Mommy and Daddy adopted November 2005 through Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue here in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was tgaken in by the rescue back in August. I was found to be a very sick girl, I was Heart Worm Positive and a couple of other bugs. Mommy and Daddy felt the tug of the husky angels and sent money to help pay for my medical needs. I was fostered by a great family, who had alot of huskies at their home. They even had their own bark park. At first Daddy didnt want another dog, until one evening when they were both in the car going out when Daddy out of the blue asked Mommy if I was good with cats. Mommy and Daddy had four cats in addition to Caesar, my little brother. Mommy called my foster mom from the car to ask about me and cats. My foster mom said that I ignored the cats that lived on their farm. So Daddy said to go see me. My foster mom brought me to work with her, where my new Mommy and Daddy came to meet me. It was love at first sight for Daddy and me. I am a Daddy's girl. Mommy and Daddy took me to the store and picked me out all kinds of neat things, toys, food, bowls, a bed and my own crate. They even bought me a pretty pink collar and matching leash to fit my Princess personality. Mommy wanted to call me Aria because I like to sing, she says I sound like an off key opera singer (whatever is an opera singer?) Daddy wanted to call me Ariel after the Little Mermaid, because I have red fur and one blue eye and I like to sing, just like the girl in the movie. So they compromised and named me Arial. My new little brother Caesar was a little surprised to see me come inside the house. He was not too happy at first I dont think. I quicklly put him in his place though, to let him know who is boss, of course Kadi the old male cat quickly showed me who really was the boss in the family and it was him. Mommy and Daddy say that Kadi rules the house with an Iron Paw. Kadi likes peace and quiet, when me and Caesar would play too rough he would jump in the middle of us and send us to our crates for disturbing his peace. Mommy and Daddy took us both to the dog wash, Caesar hates getting a bath, it took 3 people to get him up the ramp in to the bath tub. What a baby, I happily trotted up the ramp and in to the tub. They gave me a bath, and then blowed dry my fur and spritzed me with doggy perfume. Mommy said that all I needed now was a Tiara to complement my look. Soon after I was adopted, Mommy and Daddy started taking me to doggy daycare with my Little Brother Caesar. He goes to daycare once a week. I love going to daycare, it is so much fun. I have a couple of friends there that I play with every time I go. The daycare teacher says that I am a good influence on Caesar, that ever since I started coming to daycare with him, he has not gotten in to trouble, or gotten any time outs. They say I am a perfect little princess at daycare. Mommy bought me a lunch box with the Little Mermaid Ariel on it so that they will know which is my lunch, Caesar has a Blues Clues Lunch Box. A lot of the dogs have their own lunch boxes too, so not just me and Caesar. One has a Care Bears, another has Superman etc. Mommy and Daddy do not have any human children, Mommy says that she really has seven kids, me and Caesar, the four cats and Daddy. Every weekend me and Mommy have our special routine, she takes me to Starbucks where she gets a latte and I get a puppy cup at the drive through. They know Mommy's car, so when she pulls up they always have the puppy cup ready just for me, but they do send an extra one home for my Little Brother so that he doesnt get upset. My Mommy and Daddy love me alot, they spoil both of us. Mommy takes me to the groomer to get Pawdicures, they make my paws look so pretty and even will include a pretty pink toe nail polish to complement my look. The groomer says that I just love getting my paws done, that I sit very calmly while they do my nails. Sometimes Mommy will go have a pedicure done while I am getting mine done, once it turned out we had the same color toe nail polish, everyone asked if we were twins, ha ha.

Ok, last week mom and dad brought home a new baby. They didnt ask me if it was ok, they just assumed it would be. Well the new baby thinks I am his mother. He follows me everywhere I go, even to the bathroom. Dont get me wrong, he is a cute kid and all but I'm not his mother.
I really do like the new kid, even though I have had to set him in his place a couple of times. That will teach him to try to take my food.
The new kid really must think that I am his mother, he wants to always be with me. He even sleeps on my bed with me. Mom and dad call me Mama Arial.

Another Christmas has come and gone, and once again mom thinks its cute to dress me and my brother up and take our pictures. My brother will do anything for a treat, he will even wear the funny reindeer antlers etc. Since it only comes once a year I humor mom and let her put the silly looking Santa hat on me, but it doesnt mean I am going to smile in any of the pictures.

Santa Paws was very good to me and my brother and my other fur siblings. My brother Caesar and I, we got these huge bones, bones that were so big that we thought we had died and gone to doggy heaven, lol. We also got bones filled with peanut butter, bully sticks, toys, and special treats. Thats the bad thing about Christmas, it only comes once a year.

I have been training

Well its time to tell everyone what I have been doing for the past year. I have been training to be a PSD, Psychiatric Service Dog In Training. I know that I am much older than the other PSDIT's but they say that I am doing well in my training. How it all came to be was that when my mom was getting sick, when that happened I wouldnt let her out of my sight. I followed her wherever she went, I became like glue. I did other things but mom says they are too numerous to mention on this page. I only have two paws and not a good typer. Mom brought this to the attention of her doctor who told her about PSD's and told her to do some research. She than took me to the vet and had me evaluated for temperament. I dont know how long I will do this but for now I am here to help, my brother is also training too.

Also mom has back problems, she has had three major back surgeries, she just had her third surgery last month. She has problems moving around, I and my brother both are being trained to help her with mobility. We have learned the task of 'Brace' for when mom needs help getting up off the floor or when she bends down to pick something up. We are both learning to help her get up from the chair, and to help her balance. The next task is retrieval.
