Leave a bone for Butterfly McQueen (1992-2008)

Booger, Madame Queen, Madame Butterfly

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

Tummy rubs!!!! And fetching...play with me, play with me!!!

Brushing my teeth...leave them alone! And thunder...what nerve disturbing the "Queen's" sleep with all that racket! Knock it off, I say!

Favorite Toy:
Plush beehive with 3 sqeeky bees but you know, they're really my babies just like all my other "toys." See what a good mommy I am? I lick and groom them after I'm finished biting them to bits!

Favorite Food:
Life's Abundance and peanut butter!!!!!

Favorite Walk:
To the end of the street and back and the dog park. I always get attention at the dog park and everyone sees what a queen I am! Well, I can't help it if I'm cute!

Best Tricks:
Fetching but only when I feel like it.

Arrival Story:
Tennessee Scottie Rescue wouldn't give me a chance because of my Rottweiller...said a scottie couldn't be placed with him and wouldn't even interview us! So I found Butterfly at Alabama Scottie Rescue where they gave Bones a chance and he passed with flying colors! After 9.5 years of producing litters for her owner, Butterfly was dumped when she wasn't able to have babies anymore! My Rottweiller Bones needed a companion so Butterfly came home with us and quickly became everyone's favorite. She had a real boring name so I rechristened her Butterfly McQueen and she answered to it immediately. An animal communicator said she really liked her new name, that her old name was more suited to a basset hound, not a scottie! Butterfly is a miracle dog! In January 2004, she was diagnosed with a tumor in the middle of her liver...no hope. I began using Reiki and essential oils on her and 4 months later, new x-rays show no tumor! Her liver is perfectly normal! And she's healthier and more active than most dogs half her age (which is now 12!) She is the most laid back scottie you will ever meet...sweet and trusting. But she does go after mice like a house on fire if she ever sees one! Those scottie genes kick in!

Butterfly had a bad skin condition...very itchy and sparsely furred especially on her flanks. So I started working on her with good nutrition and essential oils and it didn't take much time for her coat to fill in and become very glossy and thick. She is so sweet natured that her groomer actually looks forward to her visits! You will never find another scottie with such a laid back disposition, although her new brother Angus comes close! But when it's time for her evening walk...look out..."Woof...get a move on, Mom...time to go!"

Farewell, My Subjects

My eyes are growing weary and my time with you is fading fast. I have been happy this last 7 years being Queen in the little stone castle on the mountain. But all good things must come to an end. It is time for me to find my new kingdom at the Rainbow Bridge. I have missed my faithful Bones. But I have been blessed with a baby all for me when Bestoink Dooley came to court. All those years I produced offspring only to have them taken away from me. Then “the mom” took me from my prison and brought me to this castle and made me Queen. And 3 years ago Bestoink came to be my own little one, so I could groom and fuss over him. It has been enough. And now I am tired and am ready to lie down and rest. I shall miss “the mom” because she has loved me. I shall even miss Jingles! I thank you all for your loyalty. When you come to the Bridge, our kingdom will be waiting for you and we shall all feast royally every day and have all the bones we want to chew on! That is my last royal decree. I would have liked to have been Dog Of The Week but I guess that title was not for me in this life. You can’t have it all…but I surely came close! Farewell…remember me.

How rude!

JoJo actually snapped at me last night! The very idea! I don't know what got into him to be such a churl! Good thing I wasn't in a very royal mood or it would have been off with his head!

Happy Royal Birthday to Me!

Today is my 13th birthday! My mom-in-waiing gave me a royal celebration...a peanut butter bone shaped cake on a silver platter! We were very pleased! I let my faithful subjects...Bones, Bestoink, JoJo and our foster baby Callie attend me. Let them eat cake! Ah, it's nice to be queen!

And yesterday I was taken to inspect the troops at the annual Scottie Picnic. It's a good idea to mingle with the commoners from time to time so that one does not lose the common touch. A queen must know what the little people are like and what makes them happy. I ran loose all day just like Audrey Hepburn did as the princess in Roman Holiday! Ah...to smash a guitar on a deserving noggin...what fun that would be! But I got to bark a lot! A couple of churls were so ill-mannered as to get into an altercation but the mom-in-waiting helped break it up before someone was injured or before I would have had to pass judgement. The mom couldn't find her keys when time came to leave and my royal exit got all messed up. But she found them under a box that was to be stashed in the car trunk. She's getting quite careless and I don't know what is to be done! But if I put her out to pasture, who will cater to my every need?!
