I was out running errands and thought I would stop by PetSmart to just look at the dogs, but had no intent on adopting one since it was only one month since my girl, Princess, passed away after 13 years. I went up to the cages and one dog put his arm through the cage when I went by. Since the volunteers knew me from my fostering kittens, they sweet-talked me into taking him for a walk, “just to get him out of the cage”. He was a great dog and we had a nice walk, but it was just too soon to adopt. We put him back in the cage, and as I was walking back to the car I looked back at Codi and he was giving me the big, sad brown eyes. That did it – I went back, filled out the paperwork, took him home. It was the best thing I have done in a long time, even if he is always hogging the bed!
