Lucy's Many Firsts

the ball

Lucy recently had a new first (and hopefully a last). She swallowed a squeaky ball the size of a tennis ball. It was slippery enough, and somehow got small enough to squish down her throat. Luckily, I was there to see her do it. I rushed her to an emergency vet who took an x-ray and informed me she needed surgery. So the next morning they removed the ball. She was in the hospital for 2 days, and just came home this morning. It looks like she has about 13 stitches. I am so glad she is safe at home now. I felt like the worse mom. No more small squeaky balls, or anything that looks even close to being small enough to swallow.

This is just one of many firsts... like getting stung in the face by a bee (when trying to eat the bee), getting bit on the face by a pitbull... I believe I am single-handedly keeping my vet in business....
