Arrival Story:
Scarlett came from a barn community in Newberry Springs California. She smelled terrible and had never been bathed or named. She lived caged most of her days and was accompined by 10 other dogs of all breeds including her parents, her 6 mth old twin brother which lived next door in a shack and a few horses. The owners lived in a trailer where their yard consisted of broken car parts, chicken, ducks and pigs. I had found her in an AD in the internet, where she was being sold for 20 dollars. I found an excuse for a hobby of mine, Road Trips all over CA. This was interesting for me, the dessert like city had about a population of 200 people where everyone knew one another. Although the city was very tiny and not a place for Huskies, I felt relieved and glad that the owners had decided to sell "Scarlett" instead of trying to take care of her. The trailer they stayed in was full of animals and this couple seemed to have too much of a busy life to take care of them all. I took Scarlett into my arms and as soon as I held her I forgot about the 3 hour trip I had taken to get her, the smell of poo seemed to have disapeared, she looked at me with bright blue eyes, she lowered her head in a shy posture and didn't move. I immidiatly loved her, I thought of a name for her since the owners had told me they had never named her, so I thought of her light red hair, and the gold lining around her sholders...Scarlett was a name related to what exactly she is, a "Red Siberian Husky".

Hello...this is Scarlett's mom just wishing everyone a blessfull day.
Today we came from the hospital for her second checkup on progress where her x-rays were taken.
The doctors were surprised that she had began walking. Slowly and a bit wobbly but still walking.
The unfortunate result however is that her fractures have gotten worse so the surgery at the moment is too late. All we can do is wait and see. The doctors said that the socket may dislocate on the hip so in the future there may be a high possibility of surgery being needed.
It gives me time to think and figure out how I can save up the money for her surgery in the future. I have no idea how long its going to take before her leg gives out but just thinking about the x-rays I seen today really broke me down.
All we can do is be strong at the moment and figure out a way to get her that surgery that she needs.

So today is the end of August and I am thinking about how I am going to spend my days in a cold fall night. I have lost my top coat because it was sooo hot!! especially in summer time...my sister Cookie and I played under the avocado tree. She tried to take my treat because she was jealous that I was a good girl today and she wasn't, too bad one of us doesn't like to pee inside the house...lol. I love my sunny days in Lakewood, the big back yard with trees and birds and butterflies.
