My Tail of Devotion for Sissy

Dear Sissy,
I hope you know how much you have changed our family. We didn't allow our children to have "inside" dogs while they were growing up. We realize now that was a mistake. You entered our life in a cardboard box in our utility room. You were very small and ALL EARS! I just knew you couldn't be border collie. You weren't fuzzy or round but you were the sweetest creature I have ever known. I bought a book on housebreaking a dog and by the time I got to the second chapter, you had done it without me! It was the spring of the year and I put you to bed in a kennel outside for the first month. Gradually you began to stay in the house more and more and never bothered anything. You didn't tear up anything or bark. I couldn't believe this was what it was like to have a "house dog". I started taking you to the nursing home for visits. You were pationate about catching the ball and bringing it for another toss. I put all kinds of costumes on you and you wore them with pride! Even though you weren't a foo-foo dog you knew you were entertaining everyone. The patients had so much fun when you would visit. You knew which residents to visit and which ones you needed to pursuade. You knew where to place the ball within reach, knowing that some of the residents were limited in their motion. You have become quite famous in our hometown. You have been to elementary schools, libraries, and church. You first visit to church was kinda shocking to the congregation. After we gave our children sermone on "Noah's Ark, sissy style" you rested under the pew and we didn't hear a peep from you. In 2004 I decided we would visit Edmond and get you therapy certified. You passed with flying colors. Doing therapy isn't your only talent. You are a very special cow dog. You help Dad work cattle and never seem to get tired. Between the two of you, you all can work 100 head of cattle a day. And you don't even ask for a salary! You have taught us what it is like to serve a Master. I can't imaging not having a dog live in my house now. You were so good I added Kate to the family in 1999 and Junior in 2004. If Dad would let me I would have more!
You to know when to diffuse tension, lay with me when I'm sick and work harder than any human I know. I can't imagine going through life without you.
