Arrival Story:
Sheldon was a stray in our neighborhood. Several of our neighbors called to ask if Chandler was missing thinking Sheldon was Chandler. We called all around trying to find his owners. He had no tags, just a choke chain. He had been injured on his ear flap although at first it looked like caked mud. He was pretty emaciated looking but very friendly. When the Animal Control people were unable to locate his owner, Sheldon joined our family. My husband was out of town on business so imagine his surprise when he arrived home to the woofs and licks of TWO black labs!

Bio:
Sheldon seems to love living with us. Chandler taught him how to use the doggy door and she shared her toys with him. We think she thought he was just visiting because after a few weeks, she seemed to be less generous! Sheldon has his own bed, his own toys, and is so sweet. he loves to ride in the van, snuggle on the sofa or bed, play ball, and, when it's hot, take a dip in the pool. We are still trying to get him to NOT shake pool water all over the family room when he takes his dips. Fortunately we have a tiled family room! To several female canines in the neighborhood, Sheldon is a real stud muffin! Fortunately, Sheldon was neutered before he became part of our family. Chandler keeps him in line even though she is about 25 pounds lighter. We are still working on keeping Sheldon out of the garbage when we aren't home - a vestige of his homeless days! And we are working on keeping Sheldon from jumping up on people to show how happy he is to see them. Fortunately, he is extremely gentle with little people! AN UPDATE We lost our beloved Sheldon on September 17, 2008. His wonderful heart had developed a problem and it gave out. Oh how we miss his exuberance. But we know his spirit will always be with us even though he has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. He gave us the gift of 6 wonderful years of love.

School Tale:
Since we live in the desert, it is critical that our dogs know to avoid rattlesnakes. Chandler had been trained and did really well. Sheldon, however, caused a few chuckles when he went to class. He likes to mark his territory - everywhere he goes. When he was led to the first snake cage, the first thing he did was raise his leg! Drowning the snake was not part of the training! He only did that once and has since learned to stay away from rattlesnakes!
