Dearest Saint Nicholas,
I do hope that this past year has found you well and happy. I hope you take the time between the busy seasons to de-stress and find time for yourself. Perhaps read, take time to meditate, and ensure you get enough rest. I hope your cholesterol is down.
I have been a pretty good girl this past year. As you know, I am challenged having a “brother” like Rupert, but I do try and see the good in everyone. He makes a pretty good wind block if you walk behind him, although that too, can present its perils.
This Christmas is going to be extra difficult for a lot of people, as the world seems to be even more messed up than usual right now. I don’t know why people cause these things, as it’s not just humans that suffer. There are a lot of pets that have lost their homes and families this year, and I have been very worried about it all, as I’m sure you have been too. I hope that you can find a little something extra in your magic bag to help some of them out. I wish I knew what I could do to help them. The only thing I can think of is to ask you to share some of my stuff with them. Maybe if we all give just a little, it will grow into a lot.
I don’t really need much. I have a home, a family, we get to go and visit our friends all over and I get lots to eat. (Fortunately, Mum makes sure Rupe doesn’t get my dinners!)
I can’t say that I would say no to a new nylabone and perhaps a couple of stuffy toys, but other than that, I’m good.
So, I hope you have a safe journey and that you can get to everyone who really needs you.
Please take care and say hello to Mrs. Nicholas, the reindeers and all the elves,
Your friend,
Jemma

Dear Santa,
I love you. You are so nice – I wish I had your job – it must be lovely giving presents to all the good boys and girls!!!
I have been pretty good this year – Rupert’s been trying to help me – he has issues, so I sort of take him with a grain of salt. I love him though.
I don’t really need anything – we’ve got lots of nice stuff. Fluffy toys, table legs, chewie bones – it’s not a bad life at all. So don’t you worry, if you don’t have enough stuff for me. Maybe you could give some of my stuff to the dogs that really need it. Dogs whose Mums and Dads can’t get them nifty things – or dogs in shelters that are looking for their forever homes. Maybe you could give those dogs Mums and Dads for Christmas? That would be super!!
So, I hope that everything is going well, I’ll be thinking of you on your big night! Take care of yourself – don’t eat too many cookies – I’m a little worried about you and trans-fats. I’ll leave you a nice low-fat high fibre cookie – Mum has lots of those!!
Love,
Jemma
P.S.
Say Hi to all of the reindeers and elves!!! I love them too.
