Birthday: January 17th 2006 Likes: Licking everyone she meets, snuggling, meeting new people Pet-Peeves: People who can't get along, war, how difficult it is to find dog products in tie-dye. Favorite Toy: So far it's cat toys Favorite Food: She loves getting baby carrots when I make my lunch to take to work. Favorite Walk: Anywhere we go! Best Tricks: Hah! I wish! Arrival Story: After the loss of Riley, my female Pembroke Corgi, in the summer of 2006, Rupert and I were very sad and lonely. I started contacting breeders in Canada and some of the closer states to find a young puppy in the coming months. One of the recommended breeders said she had a 6 month old female, but I had puppy fever and wanted an 8-9 week old. As I found out that pups were few and far between, and as Rupert became less active and more withdrawn, I started to think about the pros and cons of an older puppy. I had heard very good things about the temperment of the breeders dogs so we decided we would go and meet her.
She was a little bundle of energy and Rupe was very well behaved when he met her. Although she is a red and white, she looks much different to Riley and is defintely her own little personality. She sat on my lap and was very affectionate and sweet.
Rupe and I went back a week later and brought her home and we are now in the process of making a new family with her. She's been great with the cats and is taking in her new environment like a little sponge.
Jemma has settled into her new life and loves the cats and pretty much everything - although being a Corgi-girl, she doesn't take guff from anyone! I do hope that this past year has found you well and happy. I hope you take the time between the busy seasons to de-stress and find time for yourself. Perhaps read, take time to meditate, and ensure you get enough rest. I hope your cholesterol is down.
I have been a pretty good girl this past year. As you know, I am challenged having a “brother” like Rupert, but I do try and see the good in everyone. He makes a pretty good wind block if you walk behind him, although that too, can present its perils.
This Christmas is going to be extra difficult for a lot of people, as the world seems to be even more messed up than usual right now. I don’t know why people cause these things, as it’s not just humans that suffer. There are a lot of pets that have lost their homes and families this year, and I have been very worried about it all, as I’m sure you have been too. I hope that you can find a little something extra in your magic bag to help some of them out. I wish I knew what I could do to help them. The only thing I can think of is to ask you to share some of my stuff with them. Maybe if we all give just a little, it will grow into a lot.
I don’t really need much. I have a home, a family, we get to go and visit our friends all over and I get lots to eat. (Fortunately, Mum makes sure Rupe doesn’t get my dinners!)
I can’t say that I would say no to a new nylabone and perhaps a couple of stuffy toys, but other than that, I’m good.
So, I hope you have a safe journey and that you can get to everyone who really needs you.
Please take care and say hello to Mrs. Nicholas, the reindeers and all the elves,
I love you. You are so nice – I wish I had your job – it must be lovely giving presents to all the good boys and girls!!!
I have been pretty good this year – Rupert’s been trying to help me – he has issues, so I sort of take him with a grain of salt. I love him though.
I don’t really need anything – we’ve got lots of nice stuff. Fluffy toys, table legs, chewie bones – it’s not a bad life at all. So don’t you worry, if you don’t have enough stuff for me. Maybe you could give some of my stuff to the dogs that really need it. Dogs whose Mums and Dads can’t get them nifty things – or dogs in shelters that are looking for their forever homes. Maybe you could give those dogs Mums and Dads for Christmas? That would be super!!
So, I hope that everything is going well, I’ll be thinking of you on your big night! Take care of yourself – don’t eat too many cookies – I’m a little worried about you and trans-fats. I’ll leave you a nice low-fat high fibre cookie – Mum has lots of those!!
Love,
Jemma
P.S.
Say Hi to all of the reindeers and elves!!! I love them too.
