I want to thank everyone for the POP you have been sending me while I've been a little under the weather. It's truly humbling when I think of all the care and support this place brings.
My BFF's River and Cody posted in my group and the forums that I was ill and the outpouring of love and POP has been overwhelming. I have received so many pmails and gifts I don't know if I'll ever catch up. I've seen some wonderful old furiends I haven't seen in quite a while and made some new ones too!
I have HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis). It's an inflammation of the stomach and small intestine that produces sudden vomiting and blood poo. In my case - just blood - no poo! The cause is not completely known but can be brought on by many things. Saturday I spewed blood over two rooms and about gave Mom a heart attack so we went to the ER. I was given antibiotics and fluids and was sent on my way. Of course we had to follow up with my sweet Dr. B Monday morning. More fluids and something to settle my tummy and more antibiotics were the call of the day. I've been on a very bland diet but I now welcome that heartily which is a very good thing. Today we'll be calling sweet Dr. B cause now I'm not pooing at all and I don't want to drink water. But! I love my ice cubes. So I'm sure all will be ok.
Thank you to all my wonderful furiends for your love and support. I know how powerful POP can be and I am so grateful. You all are truly a gift from God.
Much love,
Maggie

The concrete was cold and it was very loud in my cell. I was so unhappy. But that was so long ago I hardly remember anymore. This is my adoption story.
Mom was at work one day. She says it was Friday, August 20th, 1999. They have a posting go up at her work every day with all sorts of stuff. This day it had a plea to rescue a Springer from Sumner County Humane Shelter. I had already been there two weeks and was on death row. The only reason they gave me more time because a Springer rescue got involved and begged to give them a chance. A lady that works with Mom breeds Springer’s and was involved in rescue and had it posted that I needed a home. Mom saw it that day and tried to talk herself out of calling about me but it got the best of her. She called about me twice that day. Later, she finally told her boss she had to leave work and go get a dog!
I was taken into a shelter with 2 more purebreds. One was PTS and the other was saved by a rescue organization in Atlanta. Mommy came into the shelter and I was in a cage with a Brittany. The Brittany was all over our cage trying to get Mom's attention but I sit in the back in a corner and just looked at her very sad. I had no idea we were actually soul mates. She took me home with her that day. When she picked me up I was really thin, very shy and ducked when she held her hand out to me. I didn't know what toys were and never did learn to care for them much. I didn't even know how to go in and out a door or up and down stairs. Although I was very affectionate, it took me 2 months to come out of my shell and start enjoying the wonderful life God had given me. That was 10 years ago this summer!
To all the humans looking for a furever love, please consider adoption/rescue. We have so much to give and you have so much to gain. OPT TO ADOPT!
Thank you!
Luv always,
Maggie

Aaawwww cute li'l Sasha tagged me!
Now I have to tell 7 things about myself, and then tag 5 friends, so here goes:
1) I'm very good at table/counter surfing (even though I'm a little height challenged).
2) I let Mom and Peanut sleep with me in the big bed.
3) I woo-woo! All Springers dont' woo-woo, did you know that?
4) I caught a bird in flight one time! Yep, sure did!
5) I hate those pesky squirrels.
6) I'm Mom's favorite... (ssshhhhhhh-don't tell Buddy & peanut)
7) I had rather go for a ride than chase squirrels.
I must tag 5 pals now! Ok... I'll tag Mollie, Al, Renze, Zak and Ros.

Dear Diary and my wonderful furiends on Dogster,
Well yesterday was my birthday/gotcha day and we celebrated my 11th birthday! I've been with Mommy for 9 years now and I know I'm one lucky girl! Also it was my and Buddy's 2 years Dogster Annifursary! Wow! It's so hard to believe it's been that long but I wouldn't trade the last 2 years for anything on this planet.
Anyway, I want to thank all my precious furiends for all the well wishes, birthday wishes, pmails and all the special rosies and gifts I received. I'll try to get around to everyone individually but just wanted you all to know there's a place in my heart for each and everyone of you. You have made an old girl feel very special.
Best wishes to all of you, may the sun shine upon you and may God bless you.
Love always,
Maggie

Hi everybody!
I know I don't write in my diary much but this is a very special entry. So many times I have seen what the power of prayer can do in this wonderful place we call Dogster. I don't think I've ever asked for prayers before but we have a furiend in need of all the prayers we can get.
Many of you know Mom transports rescue pups on weekends. It's something she enjoys very much getting these furbabies to a safe and loving place. They are pulled from rescues, puppy mills and fosters going to furever homes and new rescues and fosters. It's very rewarding to know these babies have been saved.
This past weekend Mom participated in a transport for some precious Cocker Spaniels. She picked up 2 in Bowling Green, Ky and brought them back here to Nashville and met up with 2 more Cockers. Mom picked up Brandi and Jack (Mad Jack has he has come to be known) and met up with Huffy a precious blind Cocker and Lance. They then started their journey together to a wonderful rescue - Cocker Haven in Teague, TX. Every transport Mom does she falls hard for them but one in particular has stolen her heart. Brandi is a very sweet girl about 10 years old. She is 30-40 pounds overweight. Yes, I said 30-40 pounds... That's twice the size she should be. She could barely walk, her skin is in pretty bad condition and she couldn't get in and out of the cars without help. A lot of help. Brandi was actually scheduled to transport the week before but she wasn't healthy enuff. All drivers including Mom saw that Brandi wasn't feeling well and they have all been worried about her and contacting the foster mom and other drivers. Today we received this email from FM Maggie on Brandi's condition...
" Folks, this will be short and I will try to write more later if I can...have been up most of the night and I am about all in. My vet got back in town late yesterday afternoon and we had him meet us at the clinic and took Miss Brandi straight on in. She had not eaten anything since arriving including baked chicken, beef stew broth, and everything human or canine I could think of to offer her.... When I would put small bites actually in her mouth, she would gag and force it back out... She had also quit drinking and I had begun syringing Pedialite down her every hour... As soon as he got in we took her down to the clinic and he promptly put her on IV fluids and pulled blood for tests. Her BUN (liver enzymes) are out the roof .... they should top out at 150 max and hers are 1750! He kept her there most of the night and morning to rehydrate her, gave her an antibiotic shots for secondary infections, and sent her home as he has NO room there and she was terribly upset with the kennel environment. I am syringing Pedialyte down her every hour, water available also but the Pedialyte has to be syringed whether she drinks or not, 250 mg Cephalexin twice a day as well as Zenaquin (cannot remember right now if that is n or l on the end of the word and too tired to go look!), and chicken baby food every four hours watered down in a syringe. She is back to passing almost pure blood in her stool (which is really just bloody fluid).... He gave her some shots to bolster her strength as well as some nourishment in the IV with the fluids and basically the next 24-48 hours will decide whether she makes it or not...Dr. Bennett will never put one down unless he has exhausted ALL possibilities and feels death is inevitable. Right now he puts her chances to make it at 75/25 - not her favor but the fact that she battled back last week tells him she is still trying and not ready to go yet... I hope he is right as I feel so sorry for her as she just lays there and watches me with those sad brown eyes... She did not come all this way to die and we are doing everything we can... She is in the den by herself watching the flowers out the partially pulled blinds and does not seem to be in any pain and her blood pressure was not elevated as though she were in pain. PLEASE pray for her as there is basicly nothing left to be done for her except to keep some food down her for strength, keep her hydrated, and hope the Cephalexin and Zenaquin will give her enough of a boost to let her pull through one more time. She has been such a sweet and patient girl despite my having to break my promise to her and put her back in the SUV AGAIN to transport her back and forth to the vet. Not sure we will ever get her near a car again if she pulls through all this......Again, please keep her in your prayers, You will have to reach me via e mail as I am shutting off the phone so Ron can rest (he hurt his back yesterday loading and unloading Miss Brandi and I have given him some pain meds) and also to avoid stirring up the dogs so Brandi can rest. .... Paws Forever - Maggie"
I thought where in the world are there this much prayer for our Brandi? So here I am asking for the POWER OF THE PAW for this sweet girl. I'm sorry if this is long and I really hope you finished reading it and before bed tonight maybe send out a little prayer for this helpless soul. If there is any place on Earth that can do it, Dogster can.
Luv always,
Maggie

Update: 4:08 a.m. Thursday 06/26/08
My heart is broken. Brandi went to the Bridge at 10:45 last night.
I gave Brandi a 4cc syringe of chicken broth and four 5 cc syringes of Pedialyte at about 10:45 tonight and went back to the den an hour later, one last time, to give her some more Pedialyte and spend a few moments with her again. She would lay her head in your hand and just watch you with her eyes as you talked to her and she looked so sad and tired.....This time when I came in the den she was lying there with a large puddle of blood behind her and her little head did not lift to turn and look.... When I checked her, her little soul had already left for the Bridge... Again a thank you goes to all who made it possible for her to spend her final days on a soft bed with a heavy fleece quilt around her, chicken soup to eat, and gentle hands to hold and caress her.... I only wish there had been more that could have been done but I do know she is free of pain now and slender and graceful as she prances around the Bridge up in the meadows of clouds. Go with God, Brandi. You were loved for the short time we were graced with your presence.... Paws Forever - Maggie

Wow! I haven't written in my diary in ages! I just have to let ya know how nice our weather is here right now. SPRING IS HERE! I love Spring, don't you? Everything is green and in bloom. Soooo many good smells I just don't know where to start! We get to go on regular walkies again and we love that. It gets us out of our back yard, huh? I don't walk very far anymore but I love it.
We just went to the beauty shop again this week. Buddy got all his ears cut off and looks like a sissy. BOL!!! Really! He does! HAHAHAHAHAAAA.... I hope he doesn't read this I could be in big trouble. Anyway, I go back to the dogter tomorrow to have my thyroid rechecked. It was very low 4 weeks ago and I've been on meds for that so I'm sure all will be ok. I seem to be feeling a little better actually.
I have the best furiends in the world! I have my very special "Garden" furiends and they are the most awesome. You cannot believe the kindness and love that goes on there. Also, me and Buddy are filling in for Lassie in Doggie Connection while she's on vacation. I have made so many new special pals there. It's a wonderful group.
We lost Sammy J. since I've written last. It was such a sad time for so many here on Dogster. He was such a beloved part of our lives and such an inspiration to us all. But he will always be with us in spirit and we can still see him everyday. Our prayers are still with his sweet Mommy and the rest of the Crew. I know they are missing him more than we can imagine. LOVE TO YOU ROO CREW!
Mommy is getting into rescue transport! Yep! She's taking sad homeless babies to their new fosters, rescue and forever homes! She has a 9 yr old Cocker tomorrow. Laci is going from Ohio to a Cocker rescue in TEXAS! Yayyyyy!!!!! Gonna get this sweet girl to a safe place. And that's a GOOD THING right?!!!
Well, gotta go! I hear Buddy barking about something and I need to see what he's up to! Have a great day!

God's Gift To Me
By Patricia Annette Roden
Angel wings flutter in flight
Moving through the winter's night.
One ribbon floats through the air
one end here the other end there.
Every day we live through
the angels will shorten it an inch or two.
The ribbon will grow shorter with each and every day
until we are together, then they'll snip their little hearts away.
Then one day we'll be two feet apart
The ribbon will be gone but not the love in our heart.
As we look into each other’s eyes
we begin to fully realize.
That God made you especially for me
and sent down his angels... just so it would be.
♥Happy Valentine's Day Noah!♥

My precious Noah is very sick today. He is an 11 year old beautiful Bichon that is blind and suffers from doggie diabetes. Last night he had to go to the ER in terrible pain. The dogtor says they think he has a protruding disk in his neck. Now I know how horrible that can be - My mommy used to have the same thing and it's excrutiatingly painful.
If anyone reads my diary, will you please say a prayer for Noah? I luv him very much and he has such a wonderful family. He is such a special li'l guy and I can't stand the thought of him in pain. I've seen first hand the power of Dogster prayers.
Thank you my furiends for reading this. I will be forever grateful.

Yep! I guess you could say I'm lucky. Tomorrow is my 8th annifursary with my Mommy! And let me tell ya, it don't get no better than that! I don't think I can put into words how much she loves me so that's gotta be good, right?
I'm 10 years old now!!! Yeeeehaaaa!!! I guess for a pup that's a milestone isn't it? We celebrate my birthday on my "GOTCHA" annifursary so tomorrow is a BIG day!! I wonder if I will get any presents... hmmmm... I had rather have something good to eat than something to play with. I don't care much for toys - GIVE ME FOOD! I was already 2 when Mom came to get me - you can read about that in my "Arrival Story" so I won't go into all that again but that seems so long ago now. I've changed a little - silver ears and eyebrows (Mom says I have "sparkles"), I don't get around as good as I used to - just a little "arthur" in the hind legs and knee, but I do very well.
Ooooooooh, guess what?!!! Tomorrow is also our ONE YEAR ANNIFURSARY ON DOGSTER TOO!!!! heheheheeeee!!! I have sooooo much to celebrate! I want to celebrate this fantabulous place and all the friends I have made here this last year!!! I never knew such loving, caring and generous doggies existed♥. Thank you all for being my friends and accepting me into this wonderful little world and letting me LOVE YOU! ♥ ♥
Well, I guess I've been mushy too long, I didn't mean to do that! heheheheeee.... Thanks for reading my diary today.

It's just too much! It's beauty shop day! Yup! It's that time again... that's not so bad, we're used to it. We really like Kathy - our hairdresser. And we're usually home by lunch. That usually means something really good to munch on too! Special treats on beauty shop day... BUT! Mom didn't stop there today... we gotta go see Dr. B too.
Our ears are a mess. Mom cleans and cleans and cleans, but this time she's afraid she's lost control. Maybe it's the heat? I don't know, but we're going to see Dr. B and let her get them cleaned up. Buddy's is just the same old crud but it's lots of it and it's out of control. I have ONE ear that's not crud, it's almost oozin'... that's whats got Mom worried. Soooooo... a call to Dr. B's office seemed to be in order. Do you think we may get TWO extra special TREATS? One for the beauty shop and one for Dr. B? I think that's only fair, don't you? heheheheeeee....
Well, almost time to go! Pray for TREATS!!!
Mags
p.s. We have a lot of sick pup friends and mommy's lately. Please help us say a little prayer for all of them, will ya? thanks.

My Favorite Things
I love birdies - dry and still
I don't kill them, but I have a skill.
Of finding them in the yard so dead
I pick them up by their itty-bitty head.
Then as I stand on the porch to go in
With little wings hanging down my chin
Mommy screams with oh so much terror
As she looks down upon me - quite the bearer!
Then POOF like a flash my birdie is gone!
Her we go again! Back to the lawn!

Me!!! I'm a big mouth! Let me tell ya about it.
Mom is off work for a few days so it's pretty cool when she's home. We get to go in and out, in and out, in and out... Well, you get the idea. Great day today... until...
Did I ever mention I like to eat dirt and grass? I do! Mom says I'm eating worms! For barkin' out loud! Anyway, we went out this afternoon, wasn't out there 10 minutes and Mom came out the door! Scared the bazooties outta me!!! She screamed, "MAGGIE!" Well, I guess I kind don't blame her. I was rolling my head on the ground and rubbing my eyes with my paws! My lips and jaws had swollen out 2 inches on each side! YIKES! Now let me tell ya, ya got to know my Mom... PANIC ATTACK! Ever seen one? Trust me, you don't want to see HERS! BOL!!! She ran into the house called Dr. B's office and said we are on our way, "MAGGIE'S FACE IS SWELLING UP"!!! In the 3 minutes it has taken to call the vet and grab my attire (collar & leash), I'm still swelling - eye closing shut!!! Uh oh.... now by this time I ain't none too happy. I start acting funny, but Mom figures whatever caused this is hurting! Well... YEAH! We get to Dr. B's in 5 minutes! Geeeezzzz.... I thought the ride was gonna kill me. They are so nice there, they were waiting for us. Dr. R (Dr. B not in) took me straight back and shot me up with benedryl and steroids and watched me for a little while to make sure I was breathing ok. Then... WHOOPS!!! Dr. R. asked if I had my arthritis medicine today? YEP! Sure did! Ooooooo noooooo... doesn't go well with steroids. So I get another shot for my tummy! Don't need me walking around here discarding everything I've had to eat today. Now I'm on Pepcid for the next few days too! Well, looks like I'm gonna be ok. Mommy has me in bed now, coz all this stuff is sure enough bound to make me a little droopy.
So I'm gonna sign off now and take a little nappy!
Hugs to all our sick friends and our friends that have gone to the Bridge. May God and the heavens smile on you and take care of you.
*yawns* Good night all..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

Well, I gotta go. Too busy keeping up with all my Royal Subjects today so have a great day, a great week, and a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Not! Not today anyway. The day started out really bad. We knew Miss Clover was sick last night when we signed off, so the first thing we did this morning was check on her. Of course, the bad news hit us right in the face when she was Dog of the Day. Our hearts are broken. We all loved her so much. That's the good think about Dogster - Clover's spirit and memory will live on with all of us.
Sammy Jacob is back in the hospital. Poor Sammy, he has been through so much already. Our prayers go out to him and his family also.
I wanna give a shoutout to our sweet friend Miss Dixie Monroe too. She is doing so well after her last surgery! We are so proud of her. She will be walking before long. That little cutie, she's a trooper.
Well, it's always bad news when Mom comes home early from work. Yep, it was me this time. She loaded me up, which I'm always ready to get in the car, and went to see Dr. B. It was time for bloodwork on me... uuugghhhhh.... My arthritis medicine has some serious side effects and they just want to make sure I'm ok. So, they are actually going to do a full panel on me this time - hmmmmph... they call it a Senior Panel. Just because I'm almost 10 now, I don't get the "senior" thing. I also have some fatty tumors and Mom was worried about my newest one. It came up very fast and has grown at an alarming rate. So they took some stuff out of it today too. Guess what? That fatty tumor is just that - FAT! Oooooh, I gained 3 pounds too. Mom is on a warpath about that! I think our treats are going to be cut back but she didn't decide that until after our Sonic burger today. We always get a burger after the v-e-t visit. AND! I have to go back next week to get my teech cleaned. Dr. B. says she wants me to age gracefully and pain-free. I really wish they would get off this age thing....
I'll let ya know how it goes next week. Mom is a little worried because they will give me something to make me sleep really good. She just wants to make sure they can wake me up??? Yikes!
Happy Valentines Day to all my doggie friends! I love you!

Hi everypup! Guess what we got yesterday? Christmas ornaments with a lock of hair in them! Isn't that just way tooooooo cool? Me & Buddy both got one. They are clear with our names and 2006 on them!
Our hair dresser, Kathy, made them for us while we were at the Beauty Shop yesterday. She is really nice. She smiles all the time and I think she likes me. Yep, went and got my Christmas Do (hair-do)! And I feel pretty, oh so pretty! Which of course I AM!
Oh I really want to thank Suzy (The Fun Loving Five) for our Christmas ornaments on our pages. She is soooooo smart, and clever, and sweet, and cute! They all are! I love them very much thankyou. Also, a shout to my best friends Gabby, Jezzy and Bruti! Oh and sweet little Daisy. Little Daisy is God's gift from the angels this year. What a Christmas for them, huh? Oooooh and April! She is such an adorable little sweetie. She sent Buddy a Christmas present! Oh yeah April, Buddy peeked, but he's not gonna tell till Christmas! And sweet Miss Dixie! We are sending her all of our healing prayers this year. Her moms are a Godsend aren't they?!!! Get well soon my lil friend. Gosh, I'm getting a little out of hand here, sorry.
Anyway,I want to wish ALL of our Dogster friends a very Merry Christmas. My wish for Christmas is that all of your wishes come true!
Luv you all very much,
Maggie
p.s. oops - almost forgot... Buddy, you are my bestest friend ever. I live for you and I'd die for you. No one could have a better brother than you. I love you almost as much as I do Mommy. You are my protector, my companion. Thank you for loving me. Merry Christmas my dear, dear Buddy.

As we set here and watch a Eukanuba Championship on the Animal Planet at 6:15 a.m on Saturday morning they just showed the Springer Spaniel strutting around the ring. Very beautiful but I think I'm just as beautiful really. And I would never make such a spectacle of myself. I'm content running around chasing squirrels and birds and anything else I think may be invading my territory. I bet that Springer doesn't get to do that stuff very often. pfffft...
Anyway, Mom has already caught me table surfing this morning. Geez, I wish she would mind her own business. I was just wondering what was up there. So what if it was a piece of homemade caramel cake she brought home last night. Caramel smells pretty darned good. And if she hadn't caught me, I might have been able to reach it (on my very tippy-toes).
Rambo got us all sad and upset this morning reading his post "Cant you see?" in the Dogsterholics group. It's a terrible story about the pound. But I guess it's actually a "must read". The bad thing is, it was me many years ago.
Mom has hung our stockings with care but there is stuff sticking out of them and I know I can smell some strange stuff coming from there. I'm a little worried though... If our stockings are full, where will Santa Paws put the presents he's bringing us? Mom says he'll figure it out.
note: the Brittany just won the sporting group. pfffft...
Well, I gotta go now. Mom is about to clean the window we spend so much time at. I don't know why she keeps doing that. From outside all that slobber and dirts looks like frost!
Oh, one more thing. Congratulations to Gibbon and Rosie today! Gibbon is Dog of the Day and Rosie is Diary of the Day! Woooooooo.... both on the SAME DAY! HQ has got their stuff together, don't they?
Have a great day and happy shopping!

Hah! Yesterday we went to get our pics made with Santa! Yipee!!! I was a very good girl. We went into the shelter and their were a lot of other dogs there to see Santa too. I minded my own business and when it came to go into Santa's room, I jumped right up on the pedestal and sat there. I was very much a lady. Mommy was sooooooo proud of me!
Buddy showed out! 'Nuf said!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Well, we are going to get our pics made with Santa Sunday! Mom is mad at me too. I was all clean and groomed and we had a lot of rain this week. Did I ever tell ya I love, love, love rain? Yep, like the mud that goes with it too! So, she's a little put out with me right now. Says, we can't get into the groomers so I just have to see Santa DIRTY! *snicker, snicker*

Things are good around here! Mom is better, she had a little knee injury from the "kitchen incident" and she has calmed down some from last week's Dogster depression! Of course, Bud & I are always happy. The weather here is great so we want outside a LOT! Then we want right back inside a LOT! In, out, in, out... That's what Mom says anyway. It's a girls perogotive to change her mind isn't it? If Mom would just come outside and stay with us, we would stay out all the time, but for some reason she doesn't want to do that. Especially when it's raining. I like the rain ok, doesn't bother me too much. Mud is ok too. May be because I get a good rub down with a nice soft towel before I come inside.
Anyway, it's Sunday and we will probably get an egg this morning! Wooowoooo... We like Sundays around here. Mom is usually home all day, things are normally just as I want them to be! Life is good!

Why... why oh why does it have to be so sad? We have been surfing Dogster and reading some diaries and reading up on some pup pals (which we do occasionally). We invite a lot of pups to be pals that are old or maybe not as lucky as we are. So we click on them from time to time because we have so many now, we forget who they are or what their story is. We clicked on one today that was "re-homed" because of aggression and something else, I don't remember now. There are several looking for furever homes. There are many, many seniors (they hold a special place with us).
The little poodle that was "re-homed" was ELEVEN YEARS OLD! Who would do that? Would you do that? Mom had a 14 year old Cocker Spaniel that died of cancer in 1996 - Kandie. Kandie during her lifetime never did take to kids. Actually she bit FOUR (in 14 years)! It was awful, but Mom learned to deal with it and prevent it. But not for one minute did she ever love her less or even consider giving her up. NOT FOR ONE NANO-SECOND! Just like us now, Kandie was her baby and to this very day she grieves for her. She has considered making a page here on Dogster for her but I think it would be too much for her.
First thing this morning we did a search on adoptable dogs in Tennessee - just to see what was on Dogster. Mom is always looking even though she knows we can't take on another furby. There were 74! Here on Dogster! Can you imagine how many more their are on Petfinder.com (we look there too just for the heck of it), the shelters, etc. We can't even think of the numbers. Mom does what she can and still feels it's not enough. She has two rescues, me & Bud. She makes regular donations to the local Human Assoc., not to mention dropping off blankets, pillows, collars, leashes, cat food (yes! I said cat food - that's another story). We are regular donors of ESRA (English Springer Rescue Assoc). It's just me, Bud and Mom and me and Bud don't contribut to the income much. Really, Mom does all she can, especially after taking care of us the way she feels she should. We are very well taken care of - medically, mentally, you name it - WE'RE ROTTEN. You Dogsters know that is expensive! We see it on the forums all the time, "dont get a dog if you can't afford it!" Mom has bitten off all she can chew.
We read the Dogster Blog about the lady in Texas draging the lab behind the truck. OMD! How in the world can humans keep doing these horrific crimes? I tell ya how. It's because humans answer to humans and the lives of animals are so inferior (in their minds) that it will continue to happen. But I do believe in my heart some day this will change. For example, look at Dogster - 220,000 strong? Not that many active but that's an impressive number. Look at the pet industry itself! Humans spend billions $$$ annually on their beloved pets. If legislature/legal system doesn't take a look at what's going on here, I'm afraid they will be the losers. Cities/states need to allocate money/legislature to help protect us and punish the ones that try to hurt us, whether is individuals, industries or organizations.
I'm sorry for going on like this. Mom loves us soooooo much it's hurts. She doesn't understand how the furless ones can be so... so... luvless? I think they think in their minds they love something but in reality they don't want to deal with it and never think of the consequenses. I don't know if it will ever make sense. We can only hope.
I'm going to visit a lucky pup now and kiss my mom!

Boy am I glad that's over! All those "things" coming to my door! Who or WHAT do think they are anyway? What's is all this Halloween stuff going on at my house?
Mom says I was not "good". Well... all these "things" had no business knocking at MY door wanting something. Geez... What's being good got to do with it anyway? I was protecting MY house and MY neighborhood and MY MOM and MY Buddy and MY candy. And boy did I let then know about it! Mom put a baby gate in front of the front door so we couldn't get out when she answered the door for the "trick or treaters". Huh! I made enough noise to let the whole neighborhood they had better not mess with us! And it worked too! They didn't come back tonight! Showed them. Yep.

We are trying to stay out of Mommy's way right now, things are not good around here. Actually, she's a little mad at us, BOTH OF US. She took a tumble in the kitchen a little while ago and I think she's hurt. We didn't do it on purpose and nothing like this has ever happened before but just before that happened we had just about gotten on what she calls "her last nerve"? Whatever that means.
There is a stray running our neighborhood this afternoon. Of course we don't like that and we are protecting the WHOLE neighborhood from the confines of our living room and our back yard. We have a privacy fence so we can only look thru the gate and raise holy... Not to mention the little girl next door keeps stopping the dog in OUR driveway to pet it! Well... you get the picture. We have been barking a lot. Not just our normal barking, we have been really, really giving it all we had for probably an hour or so. Mom was going nuts. We have some pretty good lungs on us. She had had about all she could stand and was headed to the kitchen to do something and slipped on water we drooled all over the place because we wouldn't stop barking. We get a drink and instead of swallowing it we just carry it around with us when we are excited! Buddy is especially bad about it. Anyway, DOWN SHE WENT. On both knees, hit her head and face on the cabinets. She said if she hit any harder she could have lost a tooth! Anyway, she is not happy.
Anybody want some company for the night? We are very well behaved. BOL!

In case you didn't know it October is "Adopt a Shelter Dog Month". This is very dear to my heart since I came from a kill shelter. Can you believe it? I had been there for 2 weeks and just before being PTS when Mommy came to pick me up. She looked at me through those bars and asked me if I was ready to go home. She said she knew then it was "true luv". She says we were always meant to be together, it just took 2 years for us to find each other - I was 2 when she found me. There are so many of these stories here on Dogster, that's why we are here - it's all for "THE LOVE OF DOGS" right? We just need to try to spread the word so other people can understand and make new stories, and understand a shelter dog is a blessing, an answer to a prayer, or a rainbow looking for it's colors. Can't we help find these blessings, prayers and colors for someone else? If we can get one person to listen to us, we have done a good job. We have saved one more life. We look at it like that is not enough. No, it's not. But hopefully that person will tell another and another and another. It's like pay it forward? If we can all do just do what we can? Anyway, let's help SAVE A DOG! Not only in October, but every month. FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS.
Luv,
Maggie

Mommy went shopping today... AT PETCO! We got all kinds of new stuff. We got new food, new chewys, bones and some stuff she said we wouldn't care anything about. I guess because it doesn't go in my mouth. Anyway, it's been a good day!
We like the food ok, she gave us a little taste before adding some to our old stuff at dinner. Now we are having our chewys! Buddy is just walking around the house carrying his, he must think I will get it. I don't want it, I have my own. Boys are so weird sometime. He was outside having his by himself and Mom made him come in. Now he's just pacing back and forth, room to room carrying it around... geeeez... I'm laying in the middle of Mom's bed enjoying the heck out of mine!
Well, let me go see if I can settle him down. More later...

I don't know about this now? I told you about Mommy moving our room? Well, she lowered our bed. It was really, really high and she thinks I was having trouble jumping up on it. She would have to give me a little boost, but she has always done that, I don't know what the big deal was?!? Jeeeez..... For some reason, she was worring about me jumpin' off of the darn thing! What's with that? I was having no problem doing that either!?! Well, now the bed is lower to ground and guess what? I get it on all by myself - FINE! But... when I jump off of it????? I SMASH MY FACE!!!!! What about that???!!!

Well Mom has decided to redecorate a little bit and move some furniture around. Hah! My brother Buddy is having a fit! We have moved bedrooms and he is really stressing out. I don't mind so much, I know something odd is going on but I just go along with Mom, wherever she sleeps? I sleep. No big deal. You should visit Buddy's page, he's a trip. Really Mom is stressing a little too. She has been really busy at home lately, furniture is piled up in one room she is doing some stinky stuff in the empty rooms. Our house is really small, so those piled up rooms I think are getting to her. They are me too, Mom just left me a little path to my ottoman sitting in front of the big window so I can see out! She promised us yesterday she would be through soon - I sure hope so... for Buddy's sake!

Hummm.... they just ran off and left me! They all went off and left me by myself Saturday, what's up with that?! All I know is they came home with some great stuff - Bud was wore out, I got treats and Mommy petted me a lot. Hmmmmm...... I don't get it. Oh well. I napped while they were gone and then when they came home Buddy kissed me a lot and then he when to sleep! Did he have to go to the doggie doctor? I don't think so, we don't usually get the good stuff. Oh well, everyone is home now. Maybe I will get to go next time.

I love to go bye-bye - I don't care where it is. Today Mom says we are going to the beauty shop. That's ok, I just like getting in the car! Let's go, go, go!!
I guess I really do need a bath - we have had a lot of rain lately and I kinda like the rain and mud and rolling in the grass. I like it when Mom has to get a big towel to rub me down before I come back in the house - woooo-woooo.... it feels sooooooo gooooood! I don't care much for those little bandana thingy's they put around my neck at the beauty shop though - they always get it a little too tight and Mom has to cut it off. But I guess they are cute at the time. But! oh woooooooo..... I bet I get a Sonic today!

I'm Maggie! I'm 9 years old and I must say I'm showing it lately. You know how we girls are... I've slowed down a lot lately, got some arthritis in my hip and knee. But I get medicine for it so that helps. Mommy calls me Woo-Woo. When I get excited, a lot of times instead of barking I just woo-woo. She thinks it's very cute. I think it's a Springer thing.
I live with my mom and 7 year old brother Buddy. She rescued both of us, but not at the same time. I came first in 1999. She says I was on death row! YIKES! My Uncle Snot says we hit the lottery. My mom is really nice. I let her sleep in my bed with me and everything. She gets half and I get half. Sometimes I get on her half and put my head on her pillow or shoulder and she rubs my ears or belly - I think that's pretty cool. Ya know some people have a problem with that? Mom says they don't know what they're missing. I think she's right. My mom doesn't have to set her alarm either, isn't that great? We get her up every morning - and it doesn't matter if it's Saturday or Sunday. She says we are "Creatures of Habit". That's a good thing... isn't it?
I am sometimes more independent than my brother. I like to go off by myself and watch the world outside. I love the birds, squirrels and rabbits in the yard. You should see me tree them! It looks like a picture. But that's what I'm suppose to do!
I've gotta go now - nap time. It's Sunday and we had eggs this morning. I'm sure I will enjoy doing this some more. Thanks for dropping by and come again!
