Yay! Now I know that winter's here because it's snowing! It's a blizzard out there! Today my mom got me a sweater. She said I look so darn cute in it! Well, I do really like it, because everyone keeps petting me, telling me how cute I am in it. Brrr...I'm still a little cold. I'm going to lie down by the fireplace now with Tiger. Bark to ya later!

So, last week I got a new sister! Her name is Tiggles, but we call her Tig. She's great! We love to play together and sleep next to each other. My mum said now I won't be so bored when she's gone.
Things were rough at first, but now we're best friends!
Special thanks to my pals Scooter and Trudy for their support.

Today was my birthday! I turned 5 years old! It was lots of fun! I had a few pups who live on our block come over for a party! We all tried barking to sing happy birthday to me and then we all ate my cake made out of biscuits. Then I got to open presents! I got lots of stuff, lots of treats and new toys! My favorite is the new Kong I got.

A song that my mom used to sing to me when I was a puppy:

You and me together we'll be
Forever you'll see
We two can be good company, you and me
Yes, together, we two
Together that's you
Forever with me
We'll always be good company, you and me
Yes, together we'll be

You and me together we'll be
Forever you'll see
We two can be good company, you and me
Yes, together, we two
Together that's you
Forever with me
We'll always be good company, you and me
Yes, together we'll be

You and me together we'll be
Forever you'll see
We'll always be good company, you and me
Just wait and see

Today we practiced agility! I think I've got the whole course down already! The easiest part for me was the weave poles, I got them down really quick. I really don't like the hurdles though, I'm not much of a jumper. I love agility, especially the parts when I get a treat!

What Is A Title?

What Is A Title?
By: Sandy Mowery

What is a title really? Not just a brag, not just a stepping stone
to a higher title, a title is a tribute to the dog that bears it, a
way to honor the dog, the ultimate memorial. It will remain in
record and memory, for as long as anything in this world can
remain. Few humans will do as well or better in that regard. And
though the dog itself doesn't know or care that it's achievements
have been noted, a title says many things in this world of humans,
where such things count. A title says that your dog was
intelligent, and adaptable and good-natured. It says that your dog
loved you enough to do the things that pleased you, however crazy
they may have seemed. And a title says that you loved your dog,
that you loved to spend time with it because it was a good dog, that
you believed in it enough to give it another chance when it failed,
and that in the end, your faith was justified. A title proves that
your dog inspired you to that special relationship enjoyed by so
few; that in this world of disposable creatures, this dog with a
title was greatly loved and loved greatly in return. A title is
nothing less than love and respect, given and received, and
permanently recorded.

Pumpkin!

Yesterday mom gave me some...
PUMPKIN!
She said that buying plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) - is an easy way to add fiber to my diet.
Pumpkin has many vitamins, especially vitamin A. It also has a great deal of fiber. For this reason, pumpkin may be added to a dog’s diet to help in weight loss (hey!) and weight control.

Oooh, that canned pumpkin was sure yummy! I LOVED it!

So if any other doggy wants to try some pumpkin, just remember that raw pumpkin is hard on a dog's digestive system and everything in moderation!

Winter Dog Safety Tips!

1. Never let your dog off the leash on snow or ice, especially during a snowstorm—dogs can lose their scent and easily become lost. More dogs are lost during the winter than during any other season, so make sure yours always wears ID tags.

2. Thoroughly wipe off your dog's legs and stomach when she comes in out of the sleet, snow or ice. S/he can ingest salt, antifreeze or other potentially dangerous chemicals while licking her paws, and his paw pads may also bleed from snow or encrusted ice.

3. Never shave your dog down to the skin in winter, as a longer coat will provide more warmth. When you bathe your dog in the colder months, be sure to completely dry her before taking him out for a walk. Own a short-haired breed? Consider getting him a coat or sweater with a high collar or turtleneck with coverage from the base of the tail to the belly. For many dogs, this is regulation winter wear.

4. Never leave your dog alone in a car during cold weather. A car can act as a refrigerator in the winter, holding in the cold and causing her to freeze to death!

5. Puppies do not tolerate the cold as well as adult dogs, and may be difficult to housebreak during the winter. If your puppy appears to be sensitive to the weather, you may opt to paper-train him inside. If your dog is sensitive to the cold due to age, illness or breed type, take him outdoors only to relieve himself.

6. Does your dog spend a lot of time engaged in outdoor activities? Increase his supply of food, particularly protein, to keep him—and his fur—in tip-top shape.

7. Like coolant, antifreeze is a lethal poison for dogs. Be sure to thoroughly clean up any spills from your vehicle, and consider using products that contain propylene glycol rather than ethylene glycol.

8. Notice that your skin is drier and flakier during the winter? Your pet's skin may dry out, too, causing his coat to lose insulating ability. If you notice flaking skin ("doggie dandruff") or a lusterless coat, ask your vet about adding a tablespoon or two of vegetable oil to his food.

9. Make sure your dog has a warm place to sleep, off the floor and away from all drafts. A cozy dog bed with a warm blanket or pillow is perfect.

10. Like people, dogs seem to be more susceptible to illness in the winter. Take your dog to a veterinarian if you see any suspicious symptoms.

11. If you see a dog left out in the cold, please speak to its owner, or notify your local police or animal welfare agency! Difficult as it may be, when talking to neglectful pet owners, don't be accusatory or belligerent. Get your point across conversationally, if you can, and in a friendly manner. Ignorance is curable by education.

Have fun in the snow with your dog! Just don't stay out too long! (And no hot chocolate for dogs when you come inside, either!)
