We adopted Hope and her brother Yogi from Heart Rescue in VA. They were tiny little bundles at 9 weeks old. They had to be re-crate trained (they had been kept in a crate with a whole litter, so were used to going potty in the crate). Hope was also VERY sick when she came to us, and it took about a year for us to figure out she is allergic to wheat!

My Tail of Devotion for Hope

My little love, Hope...where to begin? You have changed my life in SO many ways! When you came into my life, I had no idea what to expect. I had been searching for months for the perfect rescue, and finally found you and your brother. You came bounding into my life at 9 weeks old, little bundles of black fluff. You were tiny enough then to share a crate and were SO smart! By the end of the first day, you sat and went down on command. In the first few weeks you were ringing a bell to go outside to go potty! You and your brother wrestled and fought over who would get to sit in my lap!

I read so much about raising puppies, but nothing could have prepared me for the journey that lay ahead. I was up every two hours with you in the beginning! I was exhausted, but so in love! You were so well behaved you were able to come to work with me! You were so sweet with the kids I worked with, and always went into a down stay for them to pet you since you were taller than most of them!

You have continued to be a source of constant and unconditional love. Through bad times and good you have always been there for the ride, sitting patiently in the passenger's seat (and sometimes behind the wheel!). I love you more than this "tail" could express. But somehow I know that you know that already. As we prepare for your baby brother to come, life is about to change again in so many ways! But I know your love for me, daddy and the baby will always be the same - selfless, endlessly devoted and full of fun!
