My dear Abby,
I know this is your diary, but I still wanted to come here and tell you that I love you and how very much you mean to me. I can hardly believe that you are two years old today...in many ways it seems like only yesterday that you came home to us. In others, I can't remember our lives without you.
Two years...in that time, you have given so much to Daddy and I, unconditional love and devotion, undying loyalty and more kisses than I can count or remember. I love the way you greet each morning, with that wagging tale and those eager kisses, and how gently you see me off to sleep each night. I love that you are always there, no matter what is going on in the rest of my life, you are steadfast, you don't judge me for the things I say, you always forgive if I've been away too long, and you're always there to kiss away my tears when the days and nights seem endless when we are on our own.
I hope that you have the life you may have dreamed of in your doggy dreams. I hope that you are happy with your buddy Jake, and that you have a long and happy life...that WE have a long and happy life together.
Happy Birthday, my Golden Girl...you are my angel and I love you.

Wow, it's been awhile since I came here again, Mom says things have been really busy for her with Dad being away, and everyone whose come to visit lately. But I just have to tell you...Mom got me a puppy!! Yup, she got me a new puppy, someone to play with and chase around, someone I can bully when I want to and snuggle with that mood hits. His name is Jake and he's pretty cute.
When Mom first brought him home, I was pretty upset. I mean come on here, I'm all the dog Mom needs, don't you think? He was little and she was carrying him around all the time, holding him on her lap, even letting him sleep in her bedroom...in a crate, but still, that's MY space!! Mom kept telling me she still loved me, but I wasn't so sure at first. So many things had changed right before Mom brought Jake home...Dad had gone away for awhile (he'll be back soon though, he's in the military) and then Mom went away for what she called a vacation and right after she got home, she brought Jake home too. I had my nose more than a little out of joint, that's for sure!! But I gave him a chance, I figured why not, he was kind of cute.
And now...Jake is just about my best friend! We do everything together, we share our bones and all of our toys, and we even drink out of the same water dish at the same time! He's so much fun to roll around with in the yard, and chase around the house. He'll play with me almost anytime I want him to, but he does sleep a lot sometimes. Mom says that's because he's still a baby. I do know one thing, since Jake came to live with us, Mom doesn't cry as much anymore. I think she still missed Dusty a lot, I know I did, but with Jake, both of our hearts are healing. I'm so much happier not being the only golden in the house anymore, I needed Jake as much as Mom did and I'm so glad she brought him home!

Can you believe it? Mom says it's almost Christmas, and I am so excited!!! There has been so much going on, the baking and shopping, Mom wrapping presents and putting them under the tree - she stole my favorite burying spot! When Mom and Dad first put the Christmas tree up I thought it was just for me. The perfect place to bury my bones and pig ears or other toys I just don't want anyone else messing with, I mean, that is what we do outside, isn't it? And here's this tree, in the house!! Mom and Dad sure must love me to be bringing the outside in just for me, at least that's what I thought. Now there are all kinds of presents under the tree, and I'm pretty sure there are a few for me too. There's one box that smells so good I can hardly resist. I keep going over and sniffing at it, but Mom won't let me have it, she keeps saying Christmas is only a few days away and I can have it then. And, I told Mom what I wanted to get Dad for Christmas too. It's so special, I just know he'll love it! Mom went and did my shopping for me, since I'm not allowed in the store with her, and she didn't think we could convince anyone that I am a service animal. Who is she kidding?! I'm not an animal, I'm a Golden. Imagine, calling ME an animal...I think Mom has a few things to learn!! Anyway, I digress...like I was saying, Mom went shopping and got Dad's present for me, then we wrapped it and put it under the tree too. I can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning, it should be just as good as the face Mom made when I gave her a Mother's Day card this year! Well, I should go now, there are presents to sniff and treats to get...and grass to roll in and squirrels to chase. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas, I think Mom and Dad are going to make sure I do!
