Arrival Story:
I adopted mickey from a petstore when i was in college in 1994. I wanted my won dog and went on a journey to find that perfect pup for me, only one problem, i lived in the dorms so my dog had to be small enough to hide and smart enough to know he was being hidden. This little pooch made it very clear to me he was the one. I walked into the pet store and had a different dog in my arms ready to buy him, then i heard this sound, i turned around to see what it was and this little puppy was banging on his cagfe door with his head. I thought this pup my be missing a few marbles, but everytime i would turn around to look at this funny little pup he would stop banging on his cage and just look at me wagging his tail and almost smiling at me. So i picked him up and he just gave me kisses, so many my face was almost pruned from the slobber. I figured this was a sign, he was meant to be mine. So i took him home and he never left my side since.

Mickey was an old dog when he died. Unfortunately i was not there for him on his last days. You see i am in the Army, and i was deployed to Iraq in September of 2005. I knew my boy was old and was bound to die eventually, but everytime we thought it was the end he would just bounce back up and be fine. Well, my husband had to move us into new housing while i was in Iraq, when he woke up the last morning in our old house, mickey just wouldn't wake up. He just passed peacefully in his sleep. It was one of the most heart breaking things, just knowing i wasn't there to say good bye. But, Mickey will always be in my heart. I love that little boy so much and miss him terribly.

In my lifetime, i have known many dogs and loved many dogs. Every dog has its own special quality, a little glow in their sould that makes them special.
This holds true for my little Mickey.
Even though he is no longer in our world, he is there with me everyday, sitting beside me, walking next to me, he is in my heart and will never be forgotten.
He was a special little dog with the heart of the a lion. My husband said many times, he "is a dog with work ethic." I say he was a dog with passion for life.
There was never a time that he didn't surprise me with a new trick or new way to make me laugh, it was as if he was put here on this earth to watch over me in a way, my little guardian puppy angle.
I was so blessed to have him in my life.
I thank the lord everyday for the blessing he has bestowed on me in the form of my furry little pals.
I know I must sound strange, putting so much love into a little dog, but thank goodness for a site like this where there are other people who love their dogs with all their heart and share it with the rest of the world.
Mickey was a dog that would rather be in your company than any other dog, or chasing a cat, he would rather benext to his humans feeling their warmth and sharing his.
I love you Mickey and miss you so much.
Thank you for gracing me with your presence.

This is a special Tail of Devotion
