Man has it been ages since I've barked a hello to my dogster friends. Seems like we were losing so many pals from that stinking toxic dogfood that it got to be unbearable around here from all the sadness. I sure hope my pals and their peeps are hanging in there and are looking forward to Spring.
The past 2 years have brought many changes in my life. Two years ago in Spring, I went in to the doctor for my check-up and had a pawsome report. Then 2 months later I began to get sick. The doctors ran a battery of tests, but could never diagnose what was wrong with me. By October, I was so sick that the doctor told my mom she should send me to the bridge. Mom knew I was suffering, but could not accept losing me and not knowing why. She also saw how doggone hard I was fighting to live. (Actually in October, we were all sick) Sid and I got the sickest, but everyone seemed to eventually get better, but me. Sometimes, it just sucks to be the oldest. Thank dogness mom realized how much I wanted to live and how hard I was fighting cause I think that doctor had almost convinced her to send me outta here. She heard about this place out of state that might could tell her what was wrong. We learned in December that I had mercury poisoning. It was thought the mercury came from some sort of pesticide, but guess what? My folks don't use pesticides. So I went thru a detox period and loads of vitamins and supplements to protect all my organs. I lost 4 teeth, 10 pounds and a lot of my fur. My skin was raw and even black in places. Mom moved me onto raw food, but cooked it for me, so I could digest it. Then she began to add brown rice as well. I finally started seeing a new vet that also practices eastern medicine and now I am taking some chinese herbs and going to acupuncture twice a month. Let me just tell you, I woof being a pin cushion. I feel so good when I leave there. It really ticks me off when I go in there and some other pup is in my room, but I guess they really like to feel better too!!!!
So, my fur is trying to grow back. I have good days and bad days now, but what can you expect, I am almost 15. I cannot lead our walks as strongly as I did two years ago, but I am not sure I realize that. I still like to give my mom heart palpitations by trying to jump one, two and sometimes half the stairs on the staircase. I can usually land ok with one or two, but that half staircase usually puts me on my side for a minute or two. Mom says when the weather breaks, she is going to buy me a wagon to take on our walks, so I can still go and be out in front and the others will still have to stare at my behind. I bet it is no fun being in the back of the lead dog. Of course I wouldn't know. Tee-hee-hee. I will walk until I get tired and then I will be carted around like the queen that I am.
I hope every woof is doing well and I hope to get to bark at you in the Spring. Wow! Spring!!! Sure feels good to bark that word. Will feel even better to sniff it!! Until then.........

Happy Spring Everyone! Wow so much time has come and gone since I have written a message to all my pals. Seems we were just celebrating the holidays and now Spring is approaching with what should be bringing us much happiness, renewal, awakening, and new beginnings. So why are so many dogs and cats now dying and sick from tainted food? We are deeply saddened by the news that so many have lost their lives doing what they must do to survive and that is to eat. Their parents cared for them, kept them warm, loved them, got them good vet care and bought what they trusted was good food. But that wasn't the case. Now so many have paid the ultimate price and we are saddened and very angry! We are also more than a little scared each time we eat and every time we hear about another new recall. Dang! We are just animals, are we really supposed to have to worry like this? In an effort to make it easier to our fellow dogsters, we are providing a link to a webpage where you can keep updated on the latest updates: PET FOOD RECALL. But we also want to honor those who have paid the ultimate price. You are not forgotten. WE ARE THE VICTIMS We hope their parents will not mind. We are truly sorry for your loss and certainly plan to lobby Congress on your behalf. If anyone else would like to send a letter to Congress, please visit this webpage: LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN
YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!!!!!!
We are sending our love to all our pals and hope you will continue to share information with all your pals!
Peace, Love and Bellyrubs,
Terra

We have been very busy this holiday season as a group! There are four of us you know! So here is our list: Thanksgiving Day, we signed up for the "Thanksgiving Day 5K Family Fun Run and Walk" through this organization www.some.org which is the acronym for "So Others May Eat" Unfortunately, as the rotten luck would have it, we had horrible weather that weekend and mom was sick, so we couldn't make the walk. We did raise $60.00 and made that donation to feed Thanksgiving Dinner to the homeless!
Two weeks later, mom gave a pint of blood to the NIH Blood Bank where the patients are very ill.
We also made a donation to "Christmas Cash For Kids" which is a program that a local radio station in our town does every year. This year the goal was to provide gifts for 1800 children in our community. Mom made a donation in honor of her Grandmother's memory. Her grandmother, who was an orphan and whom we lost earlier this year. Mom even got to tell her Grandmother's story live on the air.
Not to be outdone, Dad went shopping and bought several bags of toys for the "Toys for Tots" program. His work collected gifts for this progam at his job location at the U.S. Capitol. Go Dad!
Then our very special polky-dot, Sasha bought Christmas gifts for her previous mom's first grade class. She even lost weight saving her treats and cashing them in for greenbacks. Most of these children are under-privileged and Sasha loves these kids as can be observed by the fan mail she receives. Refer to her page - SASHA So, not only did Sasha provide Christmas gifts for an entire class of very special children, she purchased some of those gifts through the Animal Rescue Website. That also helped to provide 156 bowls of food for Shelter Animals. Go ahead SASHA! We are very proud of you!
That is all we've managed in the past month. Our parents give to the Humane Society and the ASPCA throughout the year, but that is not special in the past month and shouldn't be counted.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our pals in this group who give/gift so unselfishly every day of the year! You are all truly special to us!
