Nicknames:
My name is pronounced like the name Micah. some of the fun names my mom calls me are Mwuka, Pupper, Funny Dog, Pupperdoodle. I can understand when people call me 'the dog' and come trotting up, so my mom has to spell 'D-O-G' or say 'the canine'!

Likes:
AGILITY, CAR RIDES, playing tug, investigating moving objects, eating any and all food, getting attention, barking at dogs walking by our yard, running crazily around the backyard

Pet-Peeves:
Having a bath. I always run away whenever my mom gets the bathtub ready! I also don't like when other dogs I don't know get too close to me. And when I'm wrong, I always like to be right! :)

Favorite Toy:
My food tube, My 'Monkey' (it's now been retired after an injury to the chest), and all other squeaky stuffies! I love playing tug with my mom Nat!

Favorite Food:
My diet is Fromm Four-Star dry food and raw, but I really do love everything! I especially love treats that have fish in the ingredients, and apples are yummy too!

Favorite Walk:
Any Agility fields, the park, the lake, to any kind of upright pole where I can check my 'P-Mail'!, anywhere my mom goes, around the street

Best Tricks:
Almost any popular trick you can think of. I do five different dog sports, but only compete in one. My cutest trick is "Paw"!

Arrival Story:
As her first ever dog, my mom researched for two and a half years before finally getting me. She researched lots of different breeds before deciding on the best one; the Miniature Schnauzer. She would have liked to get a puppy from the local Humane Society or a rescue, but there weren't any Miniature Schnauzers. She found an excellent Miniature Schnauzer breeder and reserved a puppy from the next litter. The sire of the litter is 'Sully', the dam 'Jazz'. The breeder called my mom saying the puppies had been born, and gave her the choice of a solid black male, or a black and silver female. She chose the black and silver, and the rest is, as they say, history. My mom named me 'Mika' because she liked the name of the rock mica, but she wanted my name to be unique, so she changed the spelling.

Bio:
(Mika's mom talking) Mika is a spayed, black and silver Miniature Schnauzer, but she looks a bit like a salt and pepper now. Her groomer (who breeds Miniatures) says that's because she has salt and pepper dogs in her lineage (even though her sire is black and silver, and her dam is solid black). She's my first dog, so we're learning together all about Agility. She's a bit shy and unconfident, but once she's flying over jumps and racing over A-frames (she's very fast) she's the most confident dog you've ever seen! At our first ever trial on October 21, 2007, we Q'd, got 1st place in 12" height division, and 1st place in Novice A division!! We also do (for fun, not competition) rally, disc, competitive obedience, and conformation. (Mika was chosen as *Agility*'s Dog of the Week on February 17 to 23, 2008; Dog Diary of the Day on Friday, September 21, 2007; and Sunday, January 20, 2008!)

Stewie came over! :D

August 14th 2008 7:22 am   [link to this entry]

Yesterday my brother's friend's dog Stewie came over for a visit! Stewie is a 3 year old male Beagle. He had lots of fun. He kept sniffing and licking my butt...but I got to chase him around the yard a bit! Nat was doing some jumping with him, and she's pretty impressed. but I'M still BETTER, of course! :D

Field time!

August 5th 2008 4:14 pm   [link to this entry]

We went to the Agility field today! We usually go about three times a week, and it's always tons of fun!

This is what we worked on today:

1. two 10" jumps set at a 270 degree angle, with Nat 5 ft. away from me the first time and 7 ft. away the second time. The first time I was perfect! The second time I went between the two jumps, but then I got it right!

2. tunnel to 6 weaves, 45 degree angle to weaves. Missed the weave entry at first and entered at the 3rd pole, but then I tried again and I was great!

3. running dog walk, no props. CRAZY FAST!! Missed the contact.

4. moving A-frame, no props. Really fast! Almost missed the contact.
