Nicknames:
Holly the Wonderdog!

Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog

Likes:
Being the BOSS. Holly loved keeping things under control, patrolling the yard, herding the kids when they were little, going on walks, and meeting new people.

Pet-Peeves:
She hated other dogs, though she did like it when we got her her own dogs. Our kids were getting too old to "nanny" and Holly needed something to do.

Favorite Toy:
Her favorite toys were her little dogs, Mylo and Zoe, whom she was the BOSS of. She liked to play "I'm going to eat your head!" and "Show me your neck!" all day long.

Favorite Food:
She only ate her special kibble, because she had bladder stones, and she drooled a lot when she ate because she was missing some bottom teeth.

Favorite Walk:
She was a neighborhood favorite. Back in those days, suburban dogs could wander at will. She would walk herself if we weren't available.

Best Tricks:
She could roll over, and was very proud of herself for doing it. Holly was a champ at fetching the ball. When she got tired, she'd hide it. She was also an expert hunter, and gifted us with much dead prey over the years.

Arrival Story:
Holly was a stray. She came to the school bus stop one morning and sat on my first grader's feet. She'd found her girl! She was dragging a lead. We took her to Animal Control for three days, positive that someone had to be looking for such a nice dog. We went to get her as soon as we could. Her breeds are an educated guess. Her looks were very husky, but her size, eyes, and temperament were pure herding dog, and she had some brown shading where the black met the white. We had her for 12 years.

Bio:
Holly was watchful, neurotic, fun, and loyal. She was the first dog I ever owned, and she helped me become the canine lover I am. She also helped my middle daughter get over an intense fear of dogs, just by being so gentle and sweet. I was crazy about her, despite an undercoat that never, ever stopped shedding. We have special voices for our dog's "talking." If we slip into Holly's, Zoe looks around, anxious, looking for her big dog. She has been gone for four years, and I miss her every single day. So does Zoe.
