   Leave a bone for Sonny

Pookie Puppy

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
September 24th 1999

Walks in the park or on trails, sitting in the grass or snow, and kisses.

Dogs not on leashes and squirrels. Also doesn't like to be warm or cuddled too much.

Favorite Toy:
He's not into toys at all! He likes to play tug of war with socks or sleeves.

Favorite Food:
Seafood! Mostly tuna, mussels, and sardines.

Favorite Walk:
South Brook Trail, Bowring Park, St. John's.

Best Tricks:
He can take a milk bone from your mouth very gently!

Arrival Story:
The SPCA was set up in front of a grocery store in Whitecourt, AB. We couldn't help but stop and see the lovely puppies and as soon as I set eyes on Sonny, I wanted him. Then he came right over and sat in front of me. He was only about3 months old. He was fluffy and light blonde. He came with a ratty orange blanket and a half eaten carrot. They told us the previous owner could no longer take care of him. I had no idea I'd get a dog at a grocery store!!!

Sonny may have been born in Alberta but he's a Newfoundlander at heart! He loves the water and seafood is his favourite snack. Sonny loves to chill out and hence, I think he has mastered Zen Buddhist meditation. He just sits and sits and sits. He will lie down anywhere. He even lies down in a wall corner and rests his head on the electric heater. He never seems to mind anything, except for the doorbell. He loves winter and snow. I took Sonny to the St. Francis Blessing of the Animals at the Cathdral of St. John the Baptist in St. John's, where he got blessed by a priest. Sonny is my comfort and joy.

woof roof woof!

I'm so happy I might actually do the "Sonny dance of joy!" I am totally laid back though and don't generally do that sort of emotive stuff. I like to lay low, veg out. I am so cool that I lie on my bed, resting my head on a heater. Yeah. I don't seem to mind even though my Suzy says I'm a little batty for not resting my head on the bed instead and look awfully uncomfortable. But I'm meditating. Doesn't she know that discomfort doesn't bother a mindfulness master? I'm above such things. :) I am a little mopey these days since my Nan and Poppy are gone vacationing. Sucks for me, I don't get nearly enough attention as I deserve! But Suzy is doing a good job walking me and brother Adam is getting me fed in the interim.
Woof and thanks out to all my pups on Sam's Stinky Dog Cafe! Can't wait to be your friends and pup pals!

feeling better

Hi guys, thanks for your messages! I'm getting better now that I'm on steroids and antibiotics, they said it was an allergy, not sure what to though. but that's ok, i'm feeling better now that I'm on a strict diet, and my fur is starting to grow back and everything. I've heard about these fish oil capsules that are good for skin and fur. Are they good? Does anyone know if they are the same as the fish oils/omega 3's that humans take? I'm feeling better but my fur is missing in huge chunks and I look rather patchy. It is growing back though and Suzy is super happy about that. Thanks for thinking of me and all those prayers! Have a great day! Blessings!
