I'm an Uncle!!

I'm sooooo excited. Yes ... I'm an Uncle. My two legged sister, Jenni, had a little baby girl on Friday 13th July, 2007 and I can't get enough of her. She smells sooooo good. All milky and sometimes pooey and I'm beside myself. I've had lots of smells and licks and I'm ever so good. I'm being very gentle and I just know that we are going to be the best of pals. She's pretty boring at the moment but I know that won't be for long. Mum wants me to tell you all about her so I s'pose I'd best fill you in on all the details. She is very beautiful. She was 7lb when born and it was a completely natural birth with no drugs or anything. Just like we Irish Terriers do it, aye?? My Mum was there for the birth and she said Jenni was amazing. She's a very good Mum and Dad, Shane, is not all that bad either. The baby's name is Josephine but we all call her Josie. Pretty, aye? She's got lots of goldeny, brown hair and it is all soft and fluffy. Not at all like mine. Lucy doesn't like her at all. She won't even look at her, much less have a sniff. She's reilly weird, Lucy!!! I mean ... who wouldn't want to smell a brand new baby? All she's interested in is tennis balls and things. Weird! What do you think of my main photo. Isn't she beautiful??? I'm not too bad looking either, aye??

What a great night!

G'day,
How good is Halloween? I had the best night. Here in Australia Halloween has never really been a big thing. We knew it existed but up until this year it just came and went and no-one did anything about it. Well come 2006 and all that changed ... at least in our area. From about 6pm to 8pm we must have had 60 kids knocking on our door. Poor Mum didn't have a clue what to do but she just loves kids so she just acted like she normally does around them (crazy) and I think she got away with it. She did give them all a little bag of lollies. The more the kids came the smaller the bags got or she would have run out. I had the best time cause the first thing Mum did was ask the kids if they liked dogs and if they said yes (and they all did) she would let me out and I got to sniff, jump on and join in all their fun. You should have seen some of the costumes. Pretty scary!! But not as scary as my Dad. He wrapped himself in an old sheet and when the kids were leaving he would stick his head out the window and scare the poor pets to death. He scared me pretty good the first time too but I was ready for it the next time. The very best part was that when he scared the kids they got such a fright they threw their lollies up in the air and Lucy and I got to clean up the spilled ones. Doesn't get much better than that! Crikeys we had a good time!! We are going to be more prepared next year. Mum always dresses Lucy and I up at Christmas time but next year we are going to get halloween costumes. Mum has got lots of ideas from all the pictures on dogster. Hmmmmmm! I think I would like a devil one!

G'day!
Who knew we canines could get sunburnt?? Sure as I'm Irish, I didn't! I love to sunbake ... specially in the mornings ... right after breakfast. I find a nice sunny spot, roll on my back and with all four legs in the air soak up that early morning sun. Pure bliss!! Doesn't get much better than that! But OH NO! First my tummy turned bright red, then this funny browny black colour and guess what! I'M PEELING. Fair dinkum! Do you believe that? Sure as I'm Irish it's true. What a disaster. Mum won't let me lie on my back in the sun anymore. What a spoil sport. S'pose it's for my own good but I sure miss those early morning sun baths.

Cujo Lucy!!

Is it just my bad luck or are all big sisters painful? Now I don't know about you blokes but I sure like my tucker. When my Mum fills my bowl with any sort of food and that bowl hits the floor I'm into it like there are no tomorrows. Pretty normal, aye?? But not Miss Princess, fussy features, Lucy!! She stands there and looks at her bowl, kind of contemplating on whether or not to eat and then slowly, ever so slowly, wanders over and very daintily eats but once I'm finished mine she turns into some sort of lip curling, snarling Cujo monster and proceeds to eat in her very slow, dainty manner as if she has all the time in the world. So what, you say ... it's her food. Yeah! But crikey ... mines all gone and she still has heaps ... I want it!! She always leaves me some so I s'pose I should be grateful but why can't she just eat like everyone else. She can be very painful sometimes.

Oh my goodness!! I'm soooo proud of Lucy. We went to dog park today and there were a whole bunch of little kids playing soccer on one of the fields. Now that's ok we can share. Plenty of room for all. We went to another field and had the best time running around with the other dogs and then ... on our way back to the car we went passed all the kids school bags and stuff and guess what Lucy did?? Would you believe little Miss Lucy, goody two shoes, went up to this bag that was open a bit and grabbed some poor little kid's lunch right out of that old bag. Miss perfect, never does anything wrong, Lucy!! Would you believe it? I was so proud of her. She was quick too .... Mum didn't even see it happen ... just saw Lucy with a plum jam sandwich in her mouth! How good is that?? If it was me no-one would have been surprised ... but Lucy! Well done old girl!

A bad day!

Fair dinkum this would have to be the worst day of my life. I'm sooooo hungry!! I've been sick for two whole days now and the first day Mum gave me nothing but water and today she gave me a little bit of chicken and rice and when I say a little bit, I mean a LITTLE BIT. To make matters worse she went out early this morning and, as she always does, left the television on for Lucy and me and what is on every channel ... My old mate Steve's memorial service. Woe is Lucy and me ... we were so distressed. How sad can anyone feel? Pretty sad if you go by the two of us. I don't know who wailed the loudest. For once we were in agreeance with one another. Crikeys! What a bad day. Watching that on a full stomach would have been bad enough but watching it when you are crook ... Oh my!! To make matters worse I just know that Mum is going to watch the replay tonight and I don't think I can go through that again. How brave was Bindi? That Steve was one fair dinkum, true blue, great Aussie bloke and jeeeeez we are going to miss him. I know he didn't like to see any of us animal blokes sad though, so I am going to try and put on a happy face for him and hey ... I'm going to be one of his "wildlife warriors". Crikey! I hope you are too. I know he'll be up there looking out for us still. We all love you, Steve.

G'day,
Guess where I went today? The Vet's! What a bugger!! (hope that's not a rude word in USA, It's not here but I sometimes worry about what you blokes think) Now my Vet is a real nice bloke but how come they always have to do something nasty when you go to see them. Buttered me up for a while, he did, and just as I was starting to think all was well WHAMMO!! Out comes that needle thing and bugger me (whoops ... sorry if that's not nice) if he doesn't take all this red stuff out of me. Says he is going to test it to see if it is ok. What's with that?? Of course it's ok. What right has he to take it out of me. I'm sure it's in there for a reason. Vets .... urrrrrrrrgh!!! Anyway I fixed him up real good. When I finally got out of there I peed on the floor. That'll teach him. Mum was sooooo embarrassed. I felt a bit guilty for her but that Vet bloke has to know who is boss.

G'day ... don't know what's good about it but it's just something we aussie blokes say. Crikeys .... I'm so sad .... We will miss you Steve! A stringray???? What's with that? Maybe if it was a croc it would have been easier to understand .... but a stringray! Rest in peace, mate and give 'em hell up there in heaven.

The beach!

G'day ... Just had to tell you about the beaut day we had yesterday. Just near our house is a big long beach that you can drive on at low tide and as we woke up to the most perfect weather Mum and Dad decided that we would spend the day at the beach. Jeeeez Louise (I learnt that from my pal Corker ... I would normally say Crikeys) did I get excited. They were trying to pack the car and I kept getting in the way. They finally put me and Lucy in the car to keep us out of trouble. Good thinking, really. If Mum tripped over me one more time I think she may just have killed me.
Anyway we were finally on our way and what fun!! We have to go across a river on this funny boat thing. You drive the car right onto the boat thingoe. It's such fun and then we drive a little way and we are at the beach. WOW ... I just love it. We have a favourite spot where we always go. It is just beautiful. It is a bit of a drive but when you are driving on the beach ... who cares!! Lucy and I hang our heads out the window and the smells are to die for. Dad stops along the way too and we get to explore. How good can it get?? Well I'll tell you ... when we get to OUR spot Lucy and I go exploring while Mum and Dad set up our day camp. They have everything. They make a big shady spot and put comfy chairs under it and they have this big tub thing (they call it an esky ... don't know what you blokes in America call it), full of food and drink. How good is that?? Don't quite know why they bring the chairs ... they never seem to sit in them. We swam, played frisbee and went for the biggest walk. It was the best fun. I got to chase a big goanna. Mum and Dad really freaked out. They were yelling and yelling at me but I didn't hear them. Who can hear that when there is a mean looking goanna about. Jeeeeez Louise (thanks, Corker) they have claws on them like you wouldn't believe. Mum would sure have trouble trying to cut those. Anyway it ran up a tree and I couldn't get it but boy ... did I give it something to think about. I stayed at the bottom of that tree for ages and barked and barked. Mum said it was just as well we had the beach to ourselves. Anyway it was the best day ... I love the beach.
