Mom put us out in the back yard the other night before we headed to bed. Like she does every night. Except tonight was DIFFERENT!
Ever since the "Inland Hurricane" in May, our fence has been uprooted by several trees. Mom is STILL trying to get someone to come fix the fence, but hasn't been in a hurry cause the tree roots have blocked any access to the outside. Until TONIGHT!
I smelled me a critter, and headed under the huge hole where the tree roots are! I dug and dug and FINALLY got my head out! Then I grabbed on with my paws and dragged the rest of me out...
WHAT THE! I AM ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKIN' IN!!!!! And there is Tim, the neighbor, with his pup Cassie! Oh, here I go!
But wait- I've never been THIS CLOSE to them before....I'm not SURE about this...... so I let out a growl and start to think things over. Meantime, Tim whips out his cell phone....
tim- hello, Donna.....goofy Beaner is loose....it's ok he's right here by me, but he's growling....ok ok bye.
Out comes mom......I am WAY happy to see her cause I'm not so sure about THIS side of the fence. Mom opens the gate, and I run right in....Mom grabs me and hugs me and tells me I better NEVER run away, it'd break her heart.
Next day, Mom took off a few hours from work and got the fence fixed.
WOW! Mom came home the other day, and she had this wriggly, squiggly whining thing under her arm...it's a PUP! holy cow- that's one UGLY pup! Wait- maybe it's NOT a PUP----could it be?????
It's a POSSUM!
CLEMENTINE O. POSSUM !!!!
Whooooooweee she got in line TWICE when they were handing out the UGLIES!
But....mom says she will grow, and maybe she will look less like a possum when she gets older....
