Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: April 10th 1992
Likes: Being near Mom or Dad and being petted

Pet-Peeves: Dogs within a 5-mile radius of her yard, mailman

Favorite Toy: An old towel or washcloth

Favorite Food: Food? Food?! What food? Where's the food?!!

Favorite Walk: I'm not walking anywhere; I am a Princess and I will be carried!

Best Tricks: I don't DO tricks! How silly!

Arrival Story: Lady was adopted at the age of 3 months from the same breeder we got Lady's brother, Lucky, from. She seemed so excited when we first saw her, and was devastated when we walked away. The breeder offered to have her spayed before we took her home; when we went back in 2 weeks to pick her up, she acted like "I knew you'd be back! I knew you'd be back!" Lucky seemed to like her until we put her in the car with us ... oh my, he was furious! But Lady was just excited to be going with us and wanted to be friends with Lucky, until we found out on the trip home that she got carsick! We stopped every 15 minutes on the way home so she could get out and throw up, then walk around for a few minutes. Then back into the car for another 15 minutes - a trip that normally took 2 hours rapidly became an all-day one! Once we were home, however, Lady settled in quickly and Lucky finally decided she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, so a kind of peace soon settled over the household!

Bio: Lady's temperament was, to say the least, mercurial. She could be playing with Lucky one second and, in the blink of an eye, would have drawn blood. She immediately wanted to play again and simply never understood why he would hold a grudge. But when she wanted to be a lover, she was as smooshy and loving as any girl could ever be. For that reason, we never allowed children to play with her. Poor Lady, she wanted to play with them so badly, but we were always afraid that she might decide to bury one of them!

Our family here at the Bridge got the word on June 5th that CocaCola was on her way. All of us - Bogie, Beethoven, Lucky, Dvorzak and me - were there to meet her when she arrived, and she seemed to be really happy to see us all. Wow, can you believe that she lived to be twenty years old?!
Anyway, we showed her all around and took her to the big buffet in her honor. For a little cat, she sure did pack away the food! Then we all helped her find a very special little cloud and helped her float it over to where all of our clouds are so we can watch over our house down below. She got her cloud located just right, kneaded it for a minute until it was just right, and then she laid down for a nap. Dvorzak covered her with his special blanket and watched over her all night. He said that the jet lag is worse for cats than it is for dogs, so he wanted to make sure that she got a good rest.
Today, she is much more playful and has been chasing Beethoven and Lucky. She is going to be just fine, and we are glad that she is here with us now because she is once again healthy and young and full of life. That sounds kind of funny, doesn't it? But that's what happens when you come to the Bridge. Now all we have to do is wait for the rest of the family to join us here, and then our lives will be complete.

Lucky and I have been watching from the Bridge as Buddy attempts to "train" Mom. I have to say that boy has determination, if not good sense! Lucky and I have laughed, groaned, sighed and cringed at his antics, but the boy keeps trying - we have to give him credit for perserverance. We watched Buddy steal the pork roast off the table (we had to cheer for that one!); we saw him sneak off with Mom's glasses and chew them into a mass of wire; we had to laugh out loud when he walked into the livingroom with Mom's top denture in his mouth because Mom thought he looked different, but didn't realize why for a minute; we cringed while we watched him steal Mom's bottom denture out of the bathroom and chew off several chunks of it; we giggled when he stole Dad's slipper off his foot while Dad was sleeping, then chewed all the leather laces off; we snorted water out of our noses the first time he stamped his foot on the floor because Mom wouldn't let him go outside; we wanted to hide in shame when he licked the FedEx man's hand while peeing on his leg. You must understand that this has all happened in the last six weeks! I think Mom has decided that Lucky and I weren't so bad after all. We were sedate, unusually well-behaved Bassets (well, I did have my moments - but nothing at all comparable to Buddy!). Lucky and I agree that Buddy is giving Mom and Dad a lot more grief than we ever thought of doing. Poor Mom and Dad.
Oops, gotta go. Lucky is yelling for me to get over to his cloud quick because Buddy has gotten the door open into Mom and Dad's bedroom. I can't miss this! 'Bye for now!

I looked down on my family today and saw Harvey and Buddy out playing in the yard. The sun was shining and it was warm, the snow was all gone and the flowers are starting to pop through the ground. That was my favorite time of the year when I was down there. My number one job each spring was to dig up any flower that tried to raise its head above ground. I don't know why, but something about those green things sticking up through the ground made me just want to dig and dig and dig. So dig and dig and dig I did! Mom ended up having to put flowers outside the fence if she was ever going to see them grow.
Harvey has gotten so big since I came to the Bridge. And that Buddy - I bet he gives Mom and Dad fits! He is so fast and he's constantly moving. I think I'm glad that I'm up here and he's down there - he'd wear me out in just a two-minute spurt! But some days, like today, I wish I were back home. I know, it can't ever happen, but I wish it could. I hope they think of me sometimes...
Lady, I don't know if you can hear me, but this is your Mom. I can't tell you how often I think about you and what a wonderful lover girl you were. I can remember many evenings sitting with you on my lap, cuddling you in my arms and singing softly to you. You would lie there watching my face and looking into my eyes; when I would stop singing, you would ever so gently reach up and lick my cheek. Then you would lie back and wait for me to start singing again. There is no other love quite like that, Lady - and I miss you so much, each and every day. You will always be my sweet girl. Love, Mom
