Stalking birds and squirrels in the yard is the most fun, EVER!

Having a rawhide taken away has to be a sin, she's sure of it.

Favorite Toy:
Rawhides are fun or any one of the 50 tennis balls that she decides are going to become the latest "spitball."

Favorite Food:
The kind that'll go in her mouth. Seriously.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere with Dad!

Best Tricks:
She'll clobber you with her boxer paws to get your attention and then lick you senseless with her fourteen-foot long tongue!

Arrival Story:
June 16, 1999 - December 12, 2009 She was in a kennel directly facing the entry door at the Lafayette shelter when her new Dad was up there visiting another pooch but Xena (or Sarah as she was known then) was a spitting image of her adopted sister-for-a-short-time, Stripe.

Make no mistake about it, Xena is the alpha bitch of the pack. More than likely, she'd just as soon lick a stranger to death than do them harm but if you're another dog and you're infringing on her pack, you'd best hustle back home!

Forums Motto:
Licky, licky, licky!

You put up a good fight, girl, and hardly ever lost your cool. (Gold forgives you for denting his head.) I'm sorry you had to leave us but I hope you know how much we loved you and how much we miss you.

Almost everything you did was precious - from the "Stumpy Scoot" to your super-stealthy climbing on the bed (as if we wouldn't notice your 90 lb licky-butt appearing out of nowhere!) Bouncing up and down (and getting all four paws off the floor at the same time) for cookies was truly impressive. Even when you managed to catch the squirrel, you were so gentle with him and so eager to please us that you willingly got up & went in the house when asked, leaving him behind.

I love you, honey. I hope you had a good life. I hope you know you were loved. I hope you're having a wonderful time beyond the Rainbow Bridge, chasing squirrels to your heart's content, free of all pain. We never wanted you to suffer. Thank you for the last two years, since the tumor showed up.

Life won't be the same without you in it.

It's tumor time.

The mast cell tumor on my nose has gone way down. Mom gave me some Prednisone for a couple of weeks & told Dad to stop trying to squish the tumor (which was making it itch like crazy) and it's barely noticeable. However the lump on my butt has gotten HUGE! At least that one's just a fatty / fluid-filled tumor so it's probably benign. When I "wiggy my stumpy" the lumpy wiggy's too! It's kind of fun. At least it doesn't hurt, it's not hard and it moves around pretty well - it's not attached to muscles or anything. I just wish I looked prettier, like I used to.

It was my birthday weekend!

My people said it was my birthday weekend and I have no idea what that even means but I sure had a great time! I hope every weekend is my birthday weekend so I can keep getting special treats. I got some people food - some szechuan shrimp and sake - not a lot but the nibbles I had were delish! I also got to do my favourite thing ever - lick! I usually get scolded and sent away when I embark (ha!) on a lick-fest but my people didn't scold me and I got to lick and lick and lick and lick. It was almost like doggy heaven! My dad told me I need to stick around another year so I can enjoy the next birthday weekend. I think he's worried about my lumps and bumps but I know he loves me when he calls me a goofy looking critter. I love my people too.
