Likes: sleeping on our bed, rolling around/lying belly up in the grass, wrestling with my husband, chasing the cat, tug-of-war with Eli, playing with other dogs at the dog park

Pet-Peeves: being at home & away from us, not eating human food, hates Milk-Bones!

Favorite Toy: Margot, the cat (kidding), large knotted rope toy, Kong, pressed rawhide bone, tennis balls to destroy

Favorite Food: Jerky Treats, table scraps, cheese, almost anything except lettuce

Favorite Walk: Washington Dog Park; up and down our street

Best Tricks: "shake", "lie down", fetching balls (sometimes), mostly "do what you want, Sammy"

Arrival Story: We were lucky to get Sammy through a friend, when he was already 5 months old and pretty well-behaved and potty trained. We were told at first that he was an American Bulldog, but when other dog owners (especially pit bull owners) saw him, they told us he was a Pit Bull -- which we love, he's a great breed.

Bio: Sammy thinks he's a human -- loves to be on the bed, the couch, loves to eat people food, and he likes to be with people. He thinks he's a lap dog, as he'll snuggle up to you and lay on top of you any way he can.
We recently had to say goodbye to Sammy, as he escaped from our neighbor's back yard when we were on vacation and was hit by a car. We loved him so much and will miss him terribly!

Forums Motto: I love to play and wag my tail!

Sammy keeps finding new ways to make his way out of the backyard. He seems to have super-dog strength and can move the rocks that we've put under the fence to keep him from squeezing into the space between the bottom of the fence and the ground. He finds Sammy-sized holes in the back fence, between the wrought iron and the mountain rock, and hangs out on the side of the hill where there are coyotes roaming around. Today, despite my best efforts to put chicken wire along the bottom of the fence, he just moved on to the section that I hadn't covered yet and found his way out once again. Thankfully, he doesn't wander too far from home, but once an escapee, always an escapee...
