Arrival Story:
I got a call from Atlanta SH Rescue who asked if I could pick up a young sibe. Seems a couple had convinced their neighbor to give up their puppy that they neglected - she was purchased at a mall pet store and then left chained in the backyard with no shelter. She had been microchiped but never registered with database or the AKC. She was filthy when the neighbor finally was able to get possession of her. She bathed Pepper and turned her over to the area rescue when she went into heat. After a month, we were in love with little Pepper who is so intelligent and alert! Just needed a little training (Pepper says we learned very quickly). Update: In March of 2006, I became ill and lost my job and home. Some wonderful foster parents kept Pepper (and Sasha and Kino) for two years. When it didn't appear I would be back on my own for a long period of time, Pepper's foster parents, Ken & Brynda, adopted her. She became their third husky to their pack of two - Ivan & Cinnamon. Pepper has been in her forever home for five years now and is cared for like a princess. She, Ivan and Cinnamon spend their days chasing gophers around the large hilly backyard and instead of splashing her paws in her water dish, she stands on the pool steps and splashes. I last saw her in February of 2011 and she was as beautiful as ever. It always amazed me that she remembered me whenever I came to visit. Her pictures sit on my dresser next to Kino and Sasha. I still think of her and miss her every day.
