Best Tricks: Standing on my back legs, asking (demanding) that someone throw the ball.
Arrival Story: My friend and me were living with our owner when she got sick and had to go away for treatment. Another lady came to make sure we had food and water, but we were left alone quite a bit. We escaped from our yard and wound up in jail. The lady who was taking care of us came and paid our bail. She and our owner thought it would be best if we went to a different home where people could take good care of us. A rescue lady named Marti took care of us for a day and a night. She took us to the vet and the groomers, then I went with another rescue lady named Mary Ann (whom we got Cindy from). We went for a car ride and I wound up with a different family! It was a confusing couple of days, but now I have a loving home and family.
Bio: My name used to be Salty, but when my new family got me they were having a terrible time remembering my name. So they renamed me Drover. The family keeps talking about Hank the Cowdog and laughing-I don't get it. I guess the name change is official because they got me a new name tag! I have a little mini Schnauzer sister, named Zoe, who always wants to play with me. Sometimes I kinda miss the old home, but I love living here. There are a bunch of cats here. I get hollered at if I chase them. Hey, if they run, they are fair game, right? Most of all, I love and adore the one who stole my heart, my wonderful Mom.
Forums Motto: I Love Mom! Dogster Local Spots I've Marked: Petspa and Parlor
Mom is ashamed of me right now.
I don't know what came over me. Tux got into trouble for peeing on the weight machine downstairs. I could smell exactly what he had done. I went over to the old loveseat and lifted my leg! Mom was watching me and no whiz actually came out. She made me go outside.
I just had an overwhelming urge to lift my leg once I smelled where Tux had let go.
I hope I can redeem myself soon. Mom is ashamed of me and I am ashamed of myself. Woe is me.
The wind came up sometime during the night. I was sleeping soundly in my round green bed in Mom and Pop's room. I even had a cover to keep the chill off.
When the wind came up something outside was making a whistling noise. That set off my quiver alert. I just can't help myself. There is no telling what might set me off. I got out of bed and drug my cover down the hall. I was still wearing the cover. I wandered around the house for awhile but there was no place to get away from that whistling.
Pop told Mom I was restless and must be scared. I went to Mom's side of the bed. She invited me up. I sat on the edge of the bed for the longest time. Mom put her arm around me so I wouldn't fall off. Finally I calmed down and decided to take advantage of the situation. I crawled between Mom and Pop up by their heads. Pop must have been asleep by then because he didn't complain.
I really hope that whistling doesn't happen anymore but I sure did enjoy sleeping on the big bed.
Last evening I had a great time! I played with Brother and Pop. We played my Jolly Ball Keep Away game. Around and around they would chase me through the four raised bed gardens in our yard. We must have played for hours!
Pop doesn't know all the rules, or he made up some. The unbarked rules say to stay on the grass while going around and between the raised beds. I think he might have been getting frustrated that he couldn't catch me. He started jumping over the beds. That is not correct play but I wasn't about to complain. Those two guys just kept after me. I would zip by them if they got too close.
Every now and then Zoe would come running up to me and grab my collar. She would get hollered at and then leave me alone.
What a great game, just us guys!
Finally, Mom told us to come in. It was getting dark.
