Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all my friends! I had a great day. I got to lay on the couch and relax with my new stuffed bunny - don't I look cute? Mom is finished making my costume for our walk-a-thon and boy did it turn out good! This was mom's first time making a costume from scratch. You'll have to let me know what you think after she posts pictures. The walk isn't for another week and a half, so you'll have to wait in suspense until then!
Mom stopped by this new dog store on her way home from work the other day and picked up some yogurt covered biscuits for me and Luther. They are so good! I love taking my time and licking off the yogurt before I eat the biscuit. My brother on the other hand plays with his for awhile before attacking and eating it in a few chomps. He is funny to watch.

Maryland SPCA Walk-a-thon

I am so excited! My brother and I are going to do the Maryland SPCA walk-a-thon again this year and I'm entering the costume contest again. I won't reveal my costume until after the event. I am hoping to tie for 1st again and hopefully this year I will win the grand prize! For those of you who don't remember last year I was a turtle.

We are still looking for sponsors for our walk to help support the Maryland SPCA and their wonderful adoption and spay/neuter programs. Please help us and donate to a great cause! It's Been Awhile

I just realized how long it has been since I last made an entry! Yikes! Maybe my New Year's Resolution will be to keep this more up to date. So I guess I'll back track and tell you how my Christmas was....Awesome! Mom got me and Luther so many toys and treats. We have been keeping ourselves busy. She got us these rope toys of Santa & Mrs. Clause. They are so fun to play with! She also got us these things called "Busy Bones". It didn't keep Luther busy long enough. He ate his and then tried to take mine! That wasn't nice. And we got this new blanket that is so soft. I love laying with mom on the couch with the blanket. It is one of my favorite things to do. I'll have to get mom to post some updated pictures of us that she took for the Christmas cards she sent out to our family and friends too. Well Happy New Year!!

Costume Contest

Mom took me to Petsmart last week for their Howl-o-ween costume contest. Did you see my picture? Don't I look cute? There were so many dogs there, it was a lot of fun. I got to bark at each one and let them know how much I liked their costumes. Not everyone appreciated my enthusiasm, but a lady from the Towson Times did! She took my picture and kept petting me and laughing every time I barked. She even said "What a personality!" I saw everything from princesses, butterflies and bumblebees to a hot dog and even Paris Hilton w/ Tinkerbell. When I got home, I told my brother all about it. He couldn't make it since he was at work with dad, but he enjoyed all my stories.

A Fall Walk

Last weekend mom piled us all in the car and told us we were going for a ride. I was so excited, I didn't know what to do. I decided to show my excitement by whining the whole ride! I don't think mom and dad appreciated that too much, but I just couldn't control myself. We ended up at the Humane Society for their fall walk-a-thon. There were so many dogs there and I even saw a cat! Again, I just couldn't control myself and had to bark a hello to every dog I passed. Everyone noticed me and kept pointing and laughing. A few even called me Napolean - don't they know my name is Herbie? Luther and I had a great time running around and sniffing all the new scents. Mom entered me in the costume contest, but I didn't win. There were just too many entries and it was kind of unorganized. Most of the crowd couldn't even see how cute I looked! On the way home, both me and my brother were so tired, we had to take a nap. Mom sure knows how to tire us out!!

Dog Day Afternoon

I've been away at the kennel again and haven't had too much time to write. Two weekends ago, mom and dad took Luther and me to Oregon Ridge Park. They were having something called a Dog's Day in the Park to help raise money for Animal Rescue. Boy, did I have fun! I got to run all around the park and meet all kinds of new friends. Mom was so proud of me too since I didn't bark at every new dog I met. I really am trying to be a good boy for her. They had all kinds of tables around with treats and toys - it was fun! At the end of the day this lady who called herself an animal communicator tried telling my mom and dad about me. My dad asked her to find out where I came from since they didn't know my history before they adopted me. I tried to tell her about it, but she just didn't get it. She didn't tell them anything that I said - instead she told them observations she made about me. I wasn't impressed and I don't think mom or dad were either! I'm just glad that mom and dad love me and I have an awesome big brother! That's all I ever wanted was a loving family.

Nothing new

It has been so rainy and dreary this week that I've been trying to stay inside as much as possible. I don't like going out in the rain, but mom doesn't seem to get that since she still makes me go out everyday. I've tried just sitting on the porch and not moving, but she'll just tug on my leash until I move. She is very persistant!
I've also noticed that it is starting to get cooler outside. I've been tunneling under the pillow in my doggie bed lately since it is so cozy that way. Mom thinks I look cute when I do that. It also drowns out the noise of all the acorns that keep dropping on the roof. I had no idea what the sound was at first, but every time I would hear it, my brother Luther would jump up and start barking, so I would follow his lead. Mom kept telling us "quiet! it's only the acorns!" So one day while I was out in the yard, I started sniffing and playing with this semi-green round thing and mom asked if I liked the smell of the acorns. I put two and two together and now I am getting used to the sounds of fall.

What a weekend!

What a weekend my brother and I had! Dad was taking Luther to work with him and decided to stop by the neighbor's house to say hi. Well Luther loves to play with Cookie, the neighbor's dog. While he was playing, he tried to jump off their back wall onto a bench and missed. Unfortunately for him, he gashed his leg wide open and mom and dad had to take him to the Pet ER. I was left at home, so of course I just laid around and worried about him. He came home about an hour later with 5 stitches in his leg and a cone around his head. He looked super funny with that cone, but I'm glad my big brother is okay and will be fine in a few days.
Later that day, I got tricked. Mom asked me and Luther if we wanted to go for a car ride and of course we said yes! We both love car rides! Well after a short drive we parked and I could hear all these dogs talking and barking. I didn't know where I was, but I was sure excited. We walked into this room and mom was telling this lady about Luther's accident that morning and his medicine. Next thing I know, Luther leaves with the lady. I'm still excited because I think we are somewhere fun, then mom gives me to the lady. I don't think I want to be here anymore. I tried to tell mom I didn't want to go, but she just waved at me and left - can you believe that? Next thing I know, I'm walking by all these other dogs in cages and that's when it hits me....mom dropped me off at the kennel!
I found out I was supposed to stay in the same cage as my brother, but because of his accident, we had to stay in separate kennels so I don't bother his stitches. It wasn't all that bad. I was in this run where I could go outside whenever I wanted - that was awesome. I didn't get much sleep though since the other dogs liked to talk a lot and would bark at any little noise. The lady there was nice. She said I was the sweetest dog she'd ever met! I was definitely glad to go home. I gave mom a million kisses when she came to pick me up. She gave me a bath and let me snuggle close to her and take a nap.

Visitors

Tuesday night my grandparents came to visit me and boy was I excited to see them! I heard a car door close and knew immediately that someone was coming to see me. I ran to the middle of the steps and sat like a good boy. My mom was so proud of me! I sat patiently until she opened the door and was so surprised to see grandmom and grandpop! I haven't seen them in a long time since they don't live in this state. I got lots of love and hugs from them and gave them plenty of kisses in return. They also gave me treats and I didn't have to show them any tricks. How awesome! Mom always makes me sit and give her my paw or give her a kiss before I get a treat. Not tonight! Later on, my brother Luther and dad came home and then Luther took center stage. Of course he played hard to get, which only made them give him more attention. Luther also showed them his new toy which he got on his birthday last weekend. He doesn't know it, but I play with it too when he isn't at home. :) Well I'm still tired from all that excitement and my long walk yesterday, so I'm going to take a nap....

Summer Time Fun

On Sunday - mom and dad took me over to the neighbor's house for some fun. The neighbor has a big fenced in back yard and a swimming pool. It was my first time in the back yard and boy did I have fun sniffing around the garden and smelling all the new scents. After checking everything out, I decided to lay on the deck with my brother Luther for awhile and get some sun while mom and dad went swimming. It was getting pretty hot out there and even though I've never been swimming, I inched over to the edge of the pool to take a look. All that water looked so cool and inviting. Mom noticed me looking around and decided it was time for me to have my first swim. I was scared at first, but she held me tight and gave me kisses to calm me down. It was so nice and cool, I loved it. I even got to swim by myself for a little bit. Luther knew exactly what to do - he got to lay on a raft and float around all by himself. Maybe I'll get to do that too one day!
