Arrival Story:
Graham was adopted from a group called Last Chance Rescue. They had named him Elvis. The dogs were being shown at a tractor supply store. He was in a crate looking sad in a way only beagles can. We took him out for a walk and introduced him to one of our other dogs (Metta) we had brought along that day. They seemed to really like each other. The volunteers at Last Chance had gotten him from the county shelter, but had no information about how he ended up there. Several families had adopted Graham and had brought him back! They weren’t really able to tell us why. He was described as a dog who howled only occasionally, but that wasn’t exactly accurate. He lives to howl! He had a hard time adjusting to his new home, especially in getting along with one of our male dogs. He would frequently wake up from a deep sleep snarling and looking terrified. It didn’t seem he had been well treated or socialized during his first two years. Now he is generally just a placid and pudgy beagle boy!
Bio:
Feeding time can be complicated with Graham. We have to steady the food bowl between our feet so that he doesn’t knock it over in his zeal. His ears have to be held out to the side so they don’t flop into the bowl. The good thing is that he only needs 3 seconds to finish eating!
