Arrival Story:
I work at a hospital. Knowing that I love all animals, a patient came to me and asked me to sell his schnauzer on Ebay. I told him that you can't sell live animals on Ebay, but that I would take the schnauzer. I don't know why I said it. It was a spur of the moment thing. I have a pug, 2 cats and live in an apartment. On Dec. 14, 2002 Boris came to live with us. I did not know what the future held, or whether he would be able to stay with us. He was not neutered, so the first thing I did was get him neutered. He had NO vet care whatsoever, no shots - nothing. We got caught up on everything, got him licensed. I discovered that he had seizures - we put him on meds. He was so dog aggressive that I could not walk down the street with him. He barked constantly and I lived in fear of getting evicted. I found a trainer willing to work with him. And Work and Work and Work...A year and a half later, he is the sweetest, most loving, most affectionate little guy in the world! THe barking has subsided and he plays beautifully with other dogs. He was anemic, dehydrated and slightly malnourished when he came to live with me - he is in excellent health now.

I am so proud of Boris. We have come so far. There were times that I just wanted to give up and turn him into schnauzer rescue, but something stopped me. I knew that he had a difficult life. He had been neglected and possibly abused. My patient admitted to hitting him. Boris lived outdoors with2 female unspayed chows. He fought for his food. He was one tough little schnauzer when I got him. He was also not at all housebroken. I can't even find the words to express just how much I love this little guy. I thank God every day that I did not give up on him. It was a very expensive and trying year and a half, but worth it. He is an awesome little dog and a perfect companion to Elvis, my pug. Boris has even grown to love the cats. He appreciates every little treat that I give him. He expects nothing, he demands nothing. Even after a year and a half, he is still surprised when I give him treats, which he gets several times a day! He looks up at me in disbelief when I give him a piece of chicken or a carrot. He has totally melted my heart and I am so happy that he is my little boy!
