Murphy has gone to play at Rainbow Bridge. On August 7, 2007 we found out that Murphy had bone cancer. We decided to take a chance and prolong his life by having his front left leg amputated and follow with chemotherapy.
Two days after his surgery, he was hopping around all over! What a remarkable recovery. We were shocked! He seemed years younger and was running through the yard and playing with Bailey.
He had one round of chemo and then we took him back for the second round. His white cell count was a little too low, so the vet said to keep him on the antibiotics and try again in one week.
Murphy started to go downhill fast the weekend before his second treatment. He couldn't stand on his other front leg anymore. The cancer had spread. We took him into the vet on September 19, 2007 to say our farewells. It was the hardest thing I could ever do, but we couldn't let me suffer anymore. It just wasn't fair to him. I know I did the right thing for my baby, but it hurts so much to know he's gone.
We laid Murphy to rest at his home here with us. I can look out my window every morning when I wake to see where he rests. I visit him every day and sit and talk to him. I miss him so much. He will be in my heart and memories forever.

Murphy had his front left leg amputated yesterday August 6, 2007. The cancer had really taken over all of the bone except for about 10-15% of it. Today Murphy came home one day after his surgery. He's feeling pretty rough and is trying to get use to hopping around on three legs. It's going to be a long recovery. We will find out the results of his biopsy next week. I'll update periodically on his progress. Keep him in your prayers!

We thought Murphy had pulled a muscle or was having problems with arthritis. I decided to take him to the vet last weekend and had to take him back on Monday for x-rays. The doctor said he has bone cancer in his front left leg. I couldn't believe it. My sweet beautiful boy. He is in a lot of pain and is now taking a lot of medication three times a day. We have to have a sonogram on his heart to make sure he will be able to handle treatment. If his heart is in good shape, Murphy's leg will be amputated. Then he will have to have chemotherapy. I'm so scared for him. I just feel horrible for my baby.
