Arrival Story:
Pippi is a very special little girl that came to us because there was literally no where for her to go. She was going to be euthanized by her breeder because Pippi has a fatal heart condition called "sub-aortic stenosis". This means that one of the valves in her heart is severely deformed and she will die from a heart attack or heart failure in the near future. Pippi will have a sigificantly short life, the specialists say perhaps a year if we are lucky. We felt that we could offer her as much spoiling and pampering as she would like for the time she has with us. Pippi joined our family in late April 2004 and although it has been heartbreaking knowing that she won't be with us for long, her fiesty little spirit and zest for life has taught us how to live life to the fullest. Pippi does not know that she is different from any other dog and she plays hard, works hard, and fills every day with joy and fun. She lives every day to the max! Kind of a good lesson for all of us, don't you think? JAN 2005 UPDATE: Pippi is now over a year old and despite having had two heart attacks, she is still with us and having a great life. We love our little Ppiippiirr :) Thank you for all of your kind dogster emails of support and good thoughts, they help us through the bad days :) MARCH 2005 UPDATE: Pippi died quickly and peacefully in my arms from a heart attack on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. Although I knew this day would come, it does not make losing her easy. I loved her so, she was my special little girl. Run to your heart's content my little one. Run, jump, and be free. I miss you very much.
