SOOOO SAD

It is Tuesday after a long weekend with my mommy and daddy. I knew it was going to be a sad day when I woke up and saw that daddy was not there. Then mommy got up and got in the shower (never a good sign). I moped and sulked on the bed.

I thought mommy was staying because she was making breakfast, but then she started putting all the stuff away on the counter (I know what that means) and she checked the trash to make sure it was empty. Then she closed all the doors, so I hid my face. Then I tried to be cute (you know rolling over for a belly rub and tilting my head). But she left anyways.

But then I was so happy because my daddy came home and we took a nap together!!!

New Pictures

I am soooo excited. My mommy just added new pictures of me to my website. I have to admit, I am soooo cute!!!

Those pictures of me in the bushes are the day I built my very own fort!! I was at my grandpa's house and it was really hot that day. So, I went over to the bushes and found an opening. I tramped it all down and dug out a nice soft spot in the cool dirt and I had my very own shelter. I had such a lovely nap and I was out of the hot sun. Being a white dog, I have to be really careful about how much time I spend in the sun. I don't want to get sunburnt!! My daddy is always yelling at me to stop laying out in the sun.

The lounge chair that I am laying on used to be my daddy's but I stole it from him. I do spend way more time out in the backyard than he does. But on Saturday and Sunday when the weather is nice, my daddy reads the paper and we lay on the lounge chair together. I love to watch the hummingbirds as the get a drink from the feeder.

I haven't written a new entry in a long time, so I thought I would write a new one today.

Well, first off I recently turned five years old, but I don't feel a day over 1. Four and a half years ago I hit the jackpot when my mommy and daddy adopted me. I get to be inside and outside in the sunshine. I get to sleep on a king size bed all snuggled up with my family. I get fed twice a day. I have tons and tons of toys. I sometimes get special treats when I am really good. I have the best life and I am healthy and happy.

Recently, my mommy started taking me out for walks everyday. I just love seeing the world, but sometimes I get too excited and pull on the leash and want to chase after the little dogs I see, but I am trying really hard to be good. I love the walks though because afterwards I go outside and take a nice nap on my pillow with the warm breeze blowing in my face.

In a few weeks, my mommy and daddy told me that Brooke (the springer spaniel that lives with my grandpa) is coming to stay with us for a few days. I've stayed at her house lots of times when mommy and daddy have gone away, but this will be the first time I have had an overnight guest. I will have to be on my best behavior and make sure to share my toys. I think it will be fun to have a friend around when mommy and daddy go to work.

My Overnight Guest

Well a few weeks ago, I had my first overnight guest, Brook, my grandpa's dog.

Well I was a little perturbed when she arrived because you know it is my house and my things... I would give her a little growly face when she got too close, just so she would know who was boss in this territory.

Other than that we got along just fine. She sure sleeps a lot and I was really nice to let her use my pillow basket during her stay. I even let her eat my science diet because she liked it better than her kibbles and bits.

I think I was a pretty good girl for the two weeks she was over, but I was glad to have things get back to normal. Pretty soon I will be going over to her house for a week because my Auntie Margie is getting married in Maui and mommy and daddy say I can't go because I wouldn't do too well flying on a plane. But I sure would love to run on those beaches and see some real live turtles. I hope they bring me back some good presents.

Well, I just had a great weekend hanging out with mommy and daddy in the backyard. I love to lie down in the sun and feel the warmth and the breeze, especially when I get lay with my daddy on the lounge chair. I also like to watch the humming birds and the bees as they buzz around the feeder and the flowers. We have really pretty roses in the backyard, but I now know to stay away from the thorns, because I got a pretty nasty scrath last year and had to get stitches. I don't want to do that again.

Well that is all for now, I am ready to take a nap in the sunshine because it is a beautiful day for sunning.

My Birds

I just had to write about my birds. A few weeks ago as I was playing in the backyard and some birds started to build a nest underneath the patio roof. When my mommy and daddy saw the nest, they told me that I was going to have baby birds. I was so excited!!!

Anyways the birds finally hatched and they chirped away. My mommy said that seeing how I let the birds build a nest above my pillow they were my responsibility. I was to make sure all the birds made it out of the nest safely.

This weekend the baby birds started to leave the nest and fly away. It was very exciting watching them take off and get up over the fence. But there was one baby that just couldn't quite make it over the fence. His daddy was trying so hard to help him, but he just couldn't make it. So, I decided I would chase the baby and that would give him the nudge he needed to get over the fence, but my mommy and daddy yelled at me to leave the bird alone. I wasn't going to touch it; I just wanted to help him get over the fence because it was my responsibility.

Later my daddy came out and did the very same thing I did and scared it. He then gave the bush a little nudge and the baby bird finally made it to the top of the fence. I'm not sure why I got in trouble, but I was O.K. because my mommy gave me some treats and kisses, so I know I am good girl.

It was such an exciting day watching the babies fly away and the humming birds feeding. I hope that I get some more baby birds, but they sure are noisy when you are trying to get in a good afternoon nap!!!

I'm 6!!! and other ramblings

I just had my 6th birthday. I still feel like a little puppy, but I do enjoy those late afternoon naps. I had a pretty good birthday, but mommy and daddy had to work. They made it up to me with my morning birthday announcement on the radio, a special present, and considerable lap time. And my Auntie Margie sent me a birthday card, so that was really exciting!!

I can't wait for the warm spring weather to come. I love to just bask in the sun and watch the birds at the feeder. I also like to scare them!!! The roses come in and they are so, so pretty, but I have to be careful not to get to close because they are some angry bushes with those sharp things.

The neighbors in the back got another beagle. They are so jealous because I have a doggie door, my very own lounge chair, and people that play with me all the time. They like to bark and howl a lot. Sometimes I bark back, but only when I feel like it.

My mommy made the cutest collage of me with my baby pictures. I must say I was a cute baby!!!!

Jax

A couple of months ago mommy and daddy brought a new puppy home. They told me his name was Jax. He was cute and I played with him, but ouch, those razor sharp baby teeth sure hurt. I thought he was just a toy for a day, but they brought him back and he is still here.

He really is a cute little bugger. I like to play with him, but he seriously needs some discipline at times. I take matters into my own paws. A little hip check here, a little snap there and he backs away. He's always taking shoes and socks, I just don't get it, we get lots of toys.

What is really cool is that mommy takes us for a walk EVERYDAY. We only missed once because it was raining. I just love our walks. I get fresh air, new smells, see the world. Jax loves to bite my face or my butt while were walking, but I just ignore him.

Another thing about Jax, WHAT A COPYCAT!!! I sit on the stairs, he sits on the stairs. I lay on my pillow, he lays on my pillow. I lick the dishwasher, he licks the dishwasher. I get a treat, he gets a treat. I jump on the bed, he jumps on the bed. I bark and chase the birds, he barks and chases the birds. It can be so annoying.... but mommy and daddy say that I am really patient.

I guess he is staying forever, so my new job is to love him and protect him and teach him.

He's going to school, the same one I graduated from, so hopefully he will learn some good manners.

Jax is Free

So, Jax escaped his pen on Friday. Mommy and daddy were shocked. I watched him do it, he had to jump really high and just about knocked everything over.

So, after that I got locked outside with him. I'm a good girl, I don't know why I lost my inside privileges. I mean there was that thing with the brownies, but I only ate a smidge. I am not a fan of chocolate, it is not good for me and I thought it was loaf of bread at first.

Anyways, on Tuesday mommy didn't lock us out, she left our door open. I told Jax he better be good or we would both get locked out in the heat on Wednesday. I told him it just gets hotter during the summer and there is nothing better than the air conditioned house, and laying under the fan in the loft belly side up. That just feels good and makes for a nice, pleasurable nap.

Well Jax was good on Tuesday so here we are again. I just saw him blogging, so I decided I needed to blog too. I'm heading off for a nice, cool nap. That little bugger better be good and not blow this for us!!!

Life in General

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I blogged. I've been very busy. I started intermediate class, I'm the oldest one in the class. I figured it was time to get an advanced degree and I get to take the class with Jax and be with mommy and daddy so it is fun.

I'm pretty good at all the things I've been taught. I am really good at "on your bed" just not in class, because we use the same bed for everyone, so there are just some weird smells and I prefer to lie on my own bed.

Jax is my protector. He likes to go after the dogs that want to sniff my butt. I hate when dogs and people are behind me, it makes me really nervous!

Mommy and daddy got new floors. I slip and slide around a lot, but the bonus is a I got a really nice red pillow. It is just perfect for a good nap!!!

I like playing with my brother. He's not so bad anymore. Sometimes I even let him lie next to me, but every once in a while I have to show him the weapons just to keep him in check. He likes to play a lot, and I love to play, but sometimes it is just time for a long drink of water followed by a really good nap.

I went up to Lake Arrowhead. I saw lots of dogs and people. There was this really big dog that looked exactly like Jax only bigger. It was crazy!!

Jax made the paper. He is getting such a big head, just like his daddy. Me and mommy have to deflate their egos. But this time me and mommy got our names in the paper. What they just don't get is that I am much prettier and I photograph really well. EverytimeI go to Pet Smart people are always telling mommy how pretty I am, especially my blue eyes.


The other day daddy took Jax out, I was kind of mad that I got left by myself, so I stole the whole tub of jerky treats and ate them all to myself. They were sooooo good, but it gave me a little tummy ache. I'll have to remember that for next time.

Anyhow, I am off to play a bit and then have a nap. I hear grandma is coming today, so I have to be on my best behavior.

Kicking Butt in Intermediate Class

I am kicking butt in intermediate class. My brother Jax is just being dumb!!! I can do heel, turn right, turn left, sit and stay, down and stay, stand and wait. Even the big treats in front of me don't get me distracted. Last week I even had a shopper and a dog cut through during down/stay and I didn't budge. I just kept my eyes on my mommy.


Jax couldn't do down/stay, he kept taking off and running through the store like a big dope. And he easily gets distracted by the treats. He just grabs them because he thinks they are for him.

Jax thinks he's the big cheese. He barks at the other dogs and thinks he's the boss of everyone. He's just a big doof. He thinks our teacher Tiffany likes him best, but Tiffany always gives me the good treats.

I found some new friends at class. Mommy calls them rats, chinchillas, and guinea pigs. They run around wheels in their cages and they climb all over each other. They are just fascinating to watch. Mommy says we can't take any of them home, so I guess I just get to watch them when I'm at class. I saw some birds today too. They look just like the ones in the backyard. I wanted to chase them, but mommy said no, leave it!!! So I did.

So this week I am going to cram for my final exam next week. I know I am going to ace it. Then I will have two degrees just like my mommy. Daddy better catch up!!!

This morning we went for a walk and Jax was barking at something. I looked but it was dark so I kept walking. Turns out it was a coyote!! The coyote crossed and then looked like it was going to follow us. Mommy started pulling us and running down the street quietly. She was telling Jax to be quiet and get moving. When we got on our street, Jax started messing with me because he was all riled up. Mommy was telling him to stop and get the lead out. We made it home and the coyote didn't follow us, whew....that was close! It looked like another dog, but mommy says they are wild and looking for food. She said it is good that we are big dogs, because they won't mess with us.

Well I must go nap under the fan on the pillow.

I Graduated Advanced Class

I graduated from Advanced Class!!! I was very determined to do everything right the first time. My mommy took me through all the stuff and I passed with flying colors. Lubo kept getting up during stay, not me, I held stay until Mommy returned. I did wait and come. I did separation anxiety, stand and wait for grooming, sit and wait for a pet from a stranger (scary, but I did let the strange lady pet me under the chin) and walk past dogs w/o lunging, barking, or growling. Mommy and Daddy said I was awesome.

As for Jax, he graduated, but he still can't walk past dogs without getting all mad and growly. I don't know what his problem is. He does it on walks too. Mommy is getting so frustrated and she hurt her hip trying to keep him in the stay and leave it command.

I'm hoping I can go to the class where we learn how to ride skateboards. How cool would that be at my age?

Anyways, I'm loving my naps and chasing the birds. Sometimes I even like playing with Jax, especially when I chase him. I actually gave him a body check and he landed on his bad hip. I felt bad because he was limping, but he was able to walk it off. Mommy says I have to be careful because his hip is not as strong as the other one.

The Big Bed

Well the black dog finally did it, he made it into the big bed, much to my protests. I had a good thing going being the only one in the bed with mommy and daddy. There was so much room....now that big lug takes up a lot of space. I have to sleep in my Blanca ball, but when Jax touches me, I like to give him a little growl just to show that I'm still the #1 dog.

On a side note, I got to go see Santa Paws for the first time on Saturday. I had my picture taken and everything. I was such a good girl, I almost let Santa touch me on the nose. I can't wait for Christmas, I always get lots of toys and treats. I think I have been especially good this year, so I'm hoping for a new fluffy pillow, some soft toys, and chew bones.

Mommy

I haven't written in forever. A lot of stuff has happened...

In February, my mommy broke her ankle. One minute I was outside, and I then I saw mommy on the tile floor. I ran inside to lick her face because I was sure that my kisses would heal her. Anyways daddy came home and took mommy out. She was making a weird face and saying owwww!!! When she came back, she had a big splint on her leg. I was told not to jump up on her because she was using big sticks to get around and she might fall over. That night I curled up right next to her and growled at Jax because he's such a big klutz; I knew that he would step on mommy's sore ankle with his big pudge paws.

For the next five weeks, mommy stayed home all day with us. I got to sleep in her lap day and night. It was awesome!!! The only bad thing was she couldn't get us any treats, but that was O.K. because we had mommy home! But mommy was sad sometimes because she said she couldn't walk us or get us our treats.

Then she got this cool thing with wheels and she would zoom around the house, but that meant she would be going back to work. So that was sad. But now mommy is back up on her feet. She walks funny, but it makes me so happy because she can come outside with us and she can get us treats. I miss her taking us for walks, but she says that we are both too big and Jax would pull her right over. And considering that we knocked daddy down twice on a walk, I guess she is right!!

The bad thing is that I stopped sleeping in the bed during the night. I got used to sleeping by mommy when she was in the recliner and now I just don't like Jax touching me or hitting me with his big pudge paws in the middle of the night. Mommy moved a pillow into the bedroom so now I can sleep near them and when daddy leaves for work, I get to steal his place.

Mommy says pretty soon she'll be ready to go for walks again. I sure hope so because I miss them so much. Daddy takes us sometimes, but he gets up too early most of the time.
