Highway Dog

Chloe was found on the side of the highway eating trash. A woman and her daughter who rescued dogs found her. They could tell she had just had puppies but could not find them anywhere. Chloe was in terrible shape. Fleas and ticks all over...terrible skin rash...malnourished. You could tell she lived on the street for a while.

I found her on petfinder.com. I had already adopted Dawson but he was still in the Prison program so I wouldnt bring him home for another month. When I saw Chloe's face I knew I had to have her. It was ironic because as I was looking at her on the website my mom came up my stairs to my bedroom, saw her picture and said "Go get her". I drove from Kansas City to halfway across Oklahoma to pick her up. She was terrified of everything. She jumped out of my open window at the gas station on the side of the highway. Not a good start! I took her straight to the self wash groomer. I gave her a bath and pulled tons of ticks off of her. (they gave me a discount for rescuing her!) When we got home she just laid in the dining room. It took days for her to go upstairs..even longer for her to come into my room...and finally she got in bed with me after 2 or 3 weeks. Then I brought the monster home and totally screwed up her comfort zone! Now they are BEST friends.
