Greetings from the Hulk!
Well, I have some incredible news! Last night, while Dad and I were looking through the window of the magic box that has all those miniature people, animals and monsters in it.....we were watching people singing and people talking; it was called AMERICAN IDOL......we saw an incredible FLYING MOUSE! He was flying all around in my and Dad's living room! Dad said his name is BAT, but I think it was MIGHTY MOUSE. He wasn't wearing his blue suit and red cape, though, but Mighty Mouse is the only mouse I know of that can FLY!!
Well, Dad opened the door, and after a while, Mighty Mouse flew outside. I thought it was very interesting, even better than AMERICAN IDOL, especially since SKYLAR, Dad's and my favorite was eliminated from the show.

Barks and butt-sniffs from (the incredible) Hulk!
Dad, Gertie and I went on an adventure last week-end! We went to Visit Charlene and Greg---My "sister" and brother-in-law. It was a lot of fun, as usual, except that Dad made me stay at Charlene's house while Gertie got to go with them to a PARTY! Amanda, Dad's great-granddaughter was having a party to celebrate her 18th birthday! I felt really cheated, especially when Gertie came back and gloated about the wonderful time she had, especially all the great things she had to eat. There were children there who kept sneaking bites of birthday cake and other contraband to her! Dad kept telling them not to do it, but they did it anyhow!
Except for the disappointment of not attending the party, I had a good time. Charlene and Greg gave me lots of attention and treats.

Well, it happened again this year..........that darn groundhog came out of his hole, saw his shadow, and terrified, he jumped back in his hole, bringing us six more weeks of winter! If I could find his hole, next February 2nd, I would give him something to be afraid of, and it wouldn't be his shadow!
Our morning temperature has been between 10 and 15 degrees for the past week or two. No new snow....we still have much less on the ground than usual. My friend Stove is working hard, pulling double shifts to keep me warm, so life is still good.

Butt-sniffs and slobbers from (the incredible) Hulk!
Well, I am in trouble again! Last night We decided to have PIZZA for supper. We had a Digorno's frozen pizza in the freezer, and when we got it out, Dad left it on the counter top while the oven was pre-heating. I have been trying hard to teach Dad to put things out of my reach, and I decided to give him another lesson. So I took the pizza outside, opened the box and ate it! (Ate the pizza, not the box!) Imagine Dad's reaction when he discovered the pizza gone and the empty box outside! Of course I acted very sorry and ashamed of myself, but I really wasn't sorry and I was proud of myself!
We have about 16 inches of snow, and the temperature has been between ten and fifteen degrees for the last few days. I like to run and plow snow with my nose. And the poop-sicles are ripe and very tasty. Life is good!

Well, we had a good Christmas, as always. Sandy Claws brought lots of treats, and a nice new doggie blanket. We had a good Christmas dinner------we had HAM!! Dad was pretty generous since it was Christmas, and I had been a pretty good boy all year. I got a whole slice of ham all to myself. I also had some potatoes and chicken gravy.
I finally learned the answer to a mystery: Every so often, a thing that sits on the table next to Dad's chair makes a loud noise and Dad puts part of it up to his ear and talks to it. I have been wondering about this for a long time, but yesterday, after Dad talked to it for a while, he put it up to my ear, and, guess what??? Charlene was in there, and she talked to me! I smelled the thing and couldn't smell her, but it was her voice. I don't know how she got in there, though.
Dad says that a NEW YEAR is about to start, whatever that means. Whatever it is, I hope all my DOGSTER PALS have a good one!

Greetings from (the incredible) Hulk!
Well, 'tis the season...... Sandy Claws will soon be coming. I hope he didn't notice the times that I wasn't very good, because if he did, I may not get anything! Maybe he will forgive me my trespasses. After all, I was good most of the time!
The UPS man brought a big box from Charlene yesterday, and when I sniffed it, I learned that there are some doggie treats in there. It smells like SNAUSAGES! Dad won't open the box no matter how hard I beg!
It has been cold here lately; the morning temperatures have been in the single digits and the low double digits; no warmer than 12 degrees. The good thing about that is that the poop-sicles are ripe! Gertie and I crunch down a few every chance we get, but we have to be creative in finding a place to leave them to ripen because Dad goes out and looks for them; when he finds some, he throws them away!
The snow isn't very deep yet, only a few inches. We will probably be getting more any day now. It is fun to run around plowing snow with my nose!

Barks and butt-sniffs to all! This is (the incredible) Hulk. I have been silent for a while------Dad has been pretty stingy with the computer time. He sits there and does his stuff----Email and shopping and..........., but says he doesn't have time to help me with my DOGSTER stuff.
Our weather has been getting a lot colder lately. with frost nearly every night. Soon the POOP-SICLES will be ripe! Dad thinks it is disgusting when I bring one in the house to eat in comfort beside Stove, and takes it away from me.
I can't understand Dad's attitude. He eats horrible things like mushrooms, but gets grossed out when I eat a delicious cow-pie, or poop-sicle. I just can't understand it. Humans are funny, aren't they?

Well, we returned home yesterday from our visit to "sister and bro-in-law" Charlene and Greg's. They were having our annual family yard sale. I had a wonderful time at the sale--I was the official greeter. I was very polite and made many new friends. The weather was too hot, though; we had to quit by mid-afternoon each day because we were suffering from the heat.
We were all happy to get home, though---It is always nice to come home, isn't it?

I want to bark the news about our annual family camping trip. I had a very good time. The weather was nice; no rain like we had last year. We went to the same campground as last time. Dad, Greg, Phoebe and I went on a long walk all the way around the lake. Phoebe kept up really well for such a little dog. She had to climb over logs and work her way through big rocks, but Greg never had to help her. Gertie didn't get to come on any long walks because she is too fat and out of shape. Dad took her on some shorter ones. Dad took me on some other nice walks so I could check my pee-mail It had been a whole year since I had been there so there was a lot of news to catch up on. I found a lot of nice horse-apples, but whenever I got ready for a feast, Dad always yelled LEAVE IT!! so I had to pass them by.
Dad's great-granddaughter, Amanda, came home with us to help catch up on the work Dad has let get behind. We will be taking her home this week-end when we go back to participate in Charlene's yard sale.
That's all the news for now;
Your pal,

I would like to bark about Turnspit Dogs: Happily, Dogs don't have to do that kind of work any more. Prior to and possibly into the early 1800s, Dogs were used to turn a spit on which was skewered meat to be roasted over an open fire. The spit was turned via a wheel, inside of which a dog had to run---something like a hamster wheel. The meat would have to cook for several hours, during which time the poor dog wasn't allowed to stop even long enough to catch his breath, lest the meat burn. Sometimes, as in restaurants or inns where large portions of meat were roasted, there would be two dogs who would work on alternate days.
The dogs' "pay" would be a bite of the meat after it was done. I am happy that I don't share those dogs' fate! What a boring and tiresome job that would be!
Dad and I read about this in the book: "Amazing Dogs: A Cabinet of Canine Curiosities" from Cornell University Press.
Another job that dogs used to be given was to collect money for charities. Dogs were fitted with a harness on which was fitted a lock box with a coin slot. They would carry signs indicating what charity they were collecting for. The dogs would walk around wherever people congregated and beg for contributions. I wouldn't mind having that job.
All in all, it is a very interesting book.
