Leaving so Soon?

Mom, dad, and sis were preparing to leave this morning and head over to the SportsBarn, a giant work-out gym down the street. As they were walking down the steps, Amber and I were lying near the ledge, and mom was walking by. I gave her a look when she looked over at me. "Aww Miss Olly, we won't be gone for long, only a little bit". I continued my stare at her, giving her my big brownie puppy eyes. She tried petting me and reassuring me that they'd be home soon, but I knew it wouldn't be fun without anyone home but Amber! She calls Amber over, she was pulling the "you will be gone long" act by not looking at them, but she ran over for some kisses from mom and pats from sis.

Sadly, this happens lots. I don't like it when mom and dad leave early in the morning for work, but I do look forward to the late afternoons when they return to us! I do my best pulling my big brown puppy eyes on mom, I know she loves them and she falls for them, but they don't convince her to stay. But soon enough, they return home and guess who is jumping on the door?? I bark and whine, jumping up and down, running in circles and scratching the door. I even hate it when mom and dad go work in the yard and lock us in the house. I want to help out!

Sis came over for this weekend and tonight, mommy and daddy were grilling dinner out on the porch. While dad was out by the grill and he left the door open. I was standing over by mom and sis by the counters, when I heard the dreadful sound. Yup, fireworks! I imediately made a run for mom and sat very close to her -- my legs were starting to feel like jell-o! They watched me as my legs shook and my tail was tucked in. I followed mom around to feel safe! Amber was in the doorway to the den and she didn't want to move.

But thankfully, dad came inside with everything and closed that door. I'm afraid of what's next with those fireworks.

Mommy and daddy brought Amber and I down to Atlanta while they take care of Grandma in Michigan. She had some surgery done recently and they're taking care of her. Amber and I are down at our relatives house, with the giant yard, 7 cats, my old family and home, and my older cousin Maggie. I grew up with Maggie, she was always so fun to play with and run around the yard with. Now that she's much older, she isn't always the one you'd want to chase in the yard.

She sometimes gets upset with Amber and me. I don't think Amber likes it very much though... But other then all that, I really miss my mommy. I cry like a baby when she leaves the house to work or just to be gone for a few minutes. But I'm holding on down here with my family, I'm just looking forward to being picked up by mommy and daddy and given a long car ride home!
