 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: October 12th 2000
Likes: Oliver absolutely loves to have his legs rubbed. He will stop whatever he is doing to get "leg rubbins'". Oliver loves to play frisbee in the morning and evening. He also loves to be brushed and scratched! A good belly rubbin' is never passed up either.

Pet-Peeves: Oliver gets a little jumpy when fireworks go off. He is also NOT a fan of getting a bath. Even though he is a water dog, he avoids water at all costs!

Favorite Toy: Lately his favorite has been a large pink rabbit named Dudley.

Favorite Food: I wish I could say dog food, but Oliver does get a few human foods (even though he shouldn't). He has three favorite foods. He loves, cheese, carrots and pizza.

Favorite Walk: Oliver will walk anywhere. He is an excellet walker on his leash. We go all around town and he walks without pulling.

Best Tricks: Oliver has many tricks. He can give a high five, he can peek, crawl, reach for the stars, play dead and he does a great trick we call the dogcatcher. He learned it from a dog on America's Funniest Home Videos.

Arrival Story: My entire family spent Thanksgiving at my sister's house in Florida in 2000. Before we went down I knew the litter of puppies her dog had would be ready. I was convinced I wanted the runt even before I saw him. When I went down, all the puppies were so beautiful. There were 13 in all and Oliver was the runt. When the other puppies weighed 8 pounds Oliver was only 4 pounds. He was so tiny he walked under his brothers and sisters. I picked him up and I fell in love. It took my entire family 3 days to name him. His name kind of just popped into my head and everyone agreed it was fitting.

Bio: My sister owned both of Oliver's biological parents (Harley and Woody). A few months ago Woody was bit by a snake and died. Harley was very sad. My sister said they were solemates. They never left each other's side. Good news though, there is a new dog for Harley to pal around with. My sister recently rescued a German Shepherd, Sam.

I am a Labrador retriever, a water dog by trade. Unfortunately, I hate the water. Maybe hate is a strong word. I definitely dislike water. I do drink it everyday (sometimes out of the bathtub spigot). On the rare occasion, I go for a walk in the woods I also like to frolic in the stream but only up to my knees.
When I was a puppy, I fought tooth and nail to get out of the bath tub for my bath. Now I reluctantly get in but I don’t enjoy any part of the lather, rinse and repeat.
When I go for my daily walk, I will walk around puddles. My ma tries to get me to walk through them but I am a great leaper, I just jump right over those water traps.
One summer my ma decided to get me my own little pool so I could keep cool in the summer. I did like the pool. It was like a giant water dish. Every once in awhile someone would put a big rock in the pool and I would get it out. I never actually got in the pool I would reach as far as I could with my long legs and just grab it with my big choppers. The pool did not return the next year (I think it was donated to a couple of city ducks).

I love birthdays. And no pup does a birthday better than me. I love the homemade doggie birthday cake and all the presents. Each year my ma makes me a doggie birthday cake with beef flavored baby food and crumbled up jerky treats. YUM, YUM, YUM! She also adds vanilla yogurt on top for icing. Sometime I even get some vanilla ice cream. That is definitely my favorite cake topper.
Even as much as love the birthday cake and yogurt, I do have to be honest and say I love the present part of my birthday. This year I had 5 presents to open. My ma always wraps them for me because she knows I love to open gifts. I am a pro (I even help people open their gifts on their birthdays). I can tear open any gift. My ma makes it nice for me though; she puts on very little tape and makes sure there is a nice spot for me to start into. Once I open a present, I love to toss my toy up in the air and squeak it. Once my ma shows me the next present, I quickly discard the first and rip into the next. I opened a long loofa dog, a grunting hedgehog, a striped horse, a black spider and a pink piggy with a curly little tail. I love them all. As we speak, I am surrounded by each and everyone!
Happy Birthday to Me!

A day in the life of Ollie…
Today was “ruff.” Let me start from the beginning. My ma is a teacher and all summer we sleep in and hang out while Pa goes to work (he is a funeral director). Well, today my ma had to go to work. But I‘m getting ahead of myself, let me back up and tell you about summer.
When my ma is off, we sometimes start the day off with a nice walk around town (my bubba goes too!). After we get home, she gets me a nice fresh drink of water and if I bug her a little, she will throw the Frisbee. Then no matter where she is during the day, I am right there with her. If she is upstairs so am I. If she is outside, so am I, (you get the picture). I especially like it when she is busy getting lesson plans typed up. At this point in our day, I like to put my head on the couch or her leg and just stare at her. This is a fun thing to do at any point when I want to go outside or I just want some attention. I can stand there and stare for a long, long time. This has never failed to get my ma up and ask me “show me what you want.” At this point, I either walk to the back door or to the closet for a biscuit. Sometimes if I get all wild and crazy in the house, she will take me outside for some Frisbee again! I love summer!
Now, in contrast to when my ma is home, when she is working my days are much different. When she gets up in the morning so do I, just in case there is a chance she is going to take me for a walk. Well, today it turned out NOT to be a walking morning. She just ended up going to work. I did get a piece of cheese before she left. She even gave me cheese before she fed Hattie and Hobbs. (See previous diaries for cheese and hamster references). After she went to work, I slept and slept. Then after that, I went outside and then I slept again. That is it. I slept and slept and slept. I do need to add that I have a baby sitter (my pap) but I do not like to follow him around as much, only sometimes when he is outside. But mostly I just sleep, sleep, sleep. This may be boring during the day for me but what a treat my ma gets when she gets home. I am so ready to play when she gets home that I jump around and run like a nut. She immediately takes me outside to throw the Frisbee.
Now all of this talk about my ma going to work, not going to work, I have to mention my pa. He works crazy hours. I like to wait for him to get home. And if I try, I can get him to take me outside to throw the Frisbee, even at 3 in the morning. Plus, he can throw the Frisbee much faster than my ma can.
What a life…..
