Arrival Story:
A neighbor had Sheltie puppies and I fell in love with them, but the puppies were all spoken for. She referred me to another breeder. I said I didn't want a puppy, but an older dog. They showed me "Pete", who was 8 months old, and had a broken paw as a younger puppy. They started calling him "Peg Leg Pete" while he had his cast on. I fell in love with him right away, even though I knew I should visit more than one breeder. I named him Mackenzie, which is a Scottish male name meaning "the fair one". I call him Kenzie almost all of the time. I really feel we were meant to be together because he is very shy, and I have the patience and love to deal with that! Now he is not one of many dogs, but my special dog! So in a sense I feel I "rescued him" from the breeder. I think the only dogs the breeder cared about were the show dogs, and that Kenzie didn't get much attention. In retrospect, it may have been a puppy mill. I am sure he is much happier to be the Top Dog, and in charge of 3 kitties!

Bio:
He is just a sweetheart! His favorite thing to do seems to be to bark when I sing "How much is that doggie in the window?" He has learned to bark at all the right places! He gets super excited, even when I just barely start the song! It is so cute!!!!! He and my kitty Oliver are big buddies, and touch noses and rub against each other often. Kenzie will gently take Oliver's tail in his mouth and "pet" it with his teeth. It is so touching to see them together! My other cat tolerates Kenzie pretty well, but isn't buddies with him.
