Buddy Bumpus Janes
March-31-2006

Buddy was rescued by Marie Janes from the Humane Society of Ottawa County on July 17, 2002. Buddy was a mixed Doberman, and although his actual birth date is not known, he was around 5 years old at the time of his death.

Buddy was brought back to good health, if only for a short period of his life, and he enjoyed his home, his dog bed, and stuffed toys. He was especially fond of pig ears and soft, chewy treats. He got along great with other dogs and cats. He was especially kind around children.

Buddy was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma on February 1, 2006, and from that time on he battled his cancer bravely, even when his motor control could no longer work his back legs. I held him in my arms when the vet put him down, and we buried him in the backyard next to the weeping cherry tree I got for mother’s day long ago.

We will miss his howling to let us know Larry is home from work, his doggie smile when he was happy and rolling on his back, his warm ears, and his nose nudges to get us to pet him.

The vet commended me on helping Buddy and loving him, but I think it was Buddy who really helped and loved all of us.
