Arrival Story:
Greetings! My name is Remington. I am unique in my dog family, because I am the only one that came to my forever home as a stray. I am so glad that my humans believe in God, because that is where I found them--at church! My early memories are very hazy, but I know that someone beat me--that is why I still cower if anyone moves too fast or raises their hand. I ran away and was living in the Widlerness area of the Buffalo National River near Boxley. I was nearly starved and one morning something led me up the dirt road to the Boxley Baptist Church. There were lots of people there and I wagged my tail at them, but I was afraid to get too near. I didn't realize that one family took notice of me. That night I was still there and some of the people came back. One man took a big bowl of dog food out of his car and gave it to me and I ate it all. After I ate I went and stayed beside the church because I was still a little afraid of people. Then a lady and a boy came over to the man and they talked. The lady opened her van, called to me and for some reason I wasn't afraid and I ran as fast as I could and JUMPED INTO THEIR VAN! They took me home and the boy named me Remington. The next day, they all went to school and left me on the big front porch with the other dogs. Now, I'm a jumper and so right over the railing I went and followed them to town, where I waited all day by the highway bridge for them to come home. That afternoon, they spotted me there, stopped and picked me up, and were so scared that they put up a higher fence so I couldn't jump out anymore. Gosh, do I love my home and family, Jeff, Linda, and Aaron and all the other doggie siblings.. I get plenty to eat, no one ever beats me and I get to play. Sometimes I miss running through the woods, but my people are scared that I will get lost or hurt, so they don't let me run loose, ever. I just love to curl up in a ball beside one of them for a nap. Thank you, God for getting me rescued!
