Arrival Story: Corky and I met at an adoption sponsored by Fort Worth Animal Control. He was the last adult dog there, and the staff let me take him out of the cage for a brief walk around the concourse. He stole my heart when he looked up at me with that "you're going to take me home, aren't you?" look in his brown eyes. I immediately decided to adopt him and the staff put Corky back into the cage for a few minutes so that I could move my car closer. Corky wasn't happy with this turn of events and let the world know about it. As I walked back to pick him up, his barking was audible half way down the concourse.

Bio: Corky has separation anxiety, but can be left home alone for about 1 hour. After that he leaves reminders to let me know that he's mad at me, such as chewed up miniblinds and boxes, plus deposits on the floor. He starts out with inexpensive items and steps up to more expensive items the longer he is alone. We recently moved from Florida to New Hampshire and I discovered that Corky loves to play in the snow - as long as he is wearing water proof boots. He likes to run up the snow covered hills in Wasserman Park (Merrimack, NH) and impatiently waits for his human to catch up. Corky was diagnosed with iris atrophy in 2005, which means that the pupils in his eyes are always dilated, especially his left eye.
