Arrival Story:
I saw Nelly's pic on petfinder.com and fell in love. I called her foster mom to make an appointment to meet her, then cancelled because I knew I'd be moving soon and didn't want to put a new dog through all of that. So I moved, a month later, into a pet-friendly apartment, and saw Nelly still listed on PetFinder. I talked to her foster mom again and she said that I was the only application so far that matched with Nelly's personality. When I met her and her foster mom, I knew she was the right dog, even though it was obvious she'd been mistreated previously. I had told myself on the way to meet them that I would NOT take the dog home that day, that I would sleep on it and make sure I didn't do anything compulsive. On the way home, Nelly was sitting on the bench seat of my truck with me.

Bio:
Nelly is still VERY weary of strangers, but, to me, is a total attention hog. She is like my shadow. She learned how to play fetch about 6 weeks ago, and now loves it.
