Arrival Story:
My humans met me at the Airport this April(2004). I flew all the way from British Columbia to be with them. My first Human family come to visit me and we talk by e-mail. I send them lots of pictures. My first human family had to find me a good home because their lives and jobs got too busy for me to be with them and I hate being alone so, I got adopted in April. I flew to Nova Scotia with my first human grandparents and I love it here too. Out west I mountain climbed, in the east I swim and have many friends and Human time. I've also become quite the playboy!!!

Bio:
I am a very lovable dog. True to my Lab nature it took me four times to pass obedience school. I live with two cats who tolerate my presence and tease me when my humans aren't looking. I am adapting well to my new home. My humans love me very much. I also do this droopy eye thing to sook or to look exotically sexy for the girls!!!! I love to visit my grandma and papa because I get special treats and toys there. I want all dogs to be friends. Thank you, Love Docker.

Well the dog days of summer are just around the corner and I can smell em!! I am sooooo looking forward to a summer of swimming as I am now fully recovered. I didn't get to swim until the fall last year because of my surgery. I did get to snow surf and make angels in the snow though. I got lots of extra attention and I continue to rule the pack! I really am happy I can go back and visit papa and grandma at their house cause they have the best treats. Also they are the best food droppers ever!!!! I am back visiting Hershey, the cute thing!! Tim Horton's visits still rule and I sweet bark all the girls there as this usually nets 2 treats, gosh I am a good boy!!!!!! Well got to go and see about a Tim's run now, wonder if they're open today???
Happy Easter Pals,
Docker

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has been a while but I have been busy recovering from surgery.

At the end of the winter, as I was playing in the snow and running about playfully with my human (my favorite winter sport, especially if my human falls hehehe), I slipped on a small patch of ice and hurt my right hind leg. It was sore for 24 hours and then mom took me to a vet, who just had to play with the sore leg. It turned out that I had a complete crucia ligament tear. Unfortunately due to my large size I needed to undergo the TPLO surgery ( if you type in TPLO Slocum in the address bar or in google you can find out more). This means I have a plate and pins on my leg to give the joint stability and it was the only option for me to have a chance at an active life once more. I had this surgery on my birthday of all days. I have been on rest since then but I feel really good. I have to wait for the end of June to start rehab because the bone needs 8-10 weeeks to heal first. I hope I get to swim!!!!
I am in good spirits and love all the extra special attention and time my humans give me. Well, I must go now and do the droopy face thing to get more attention, a short walk in the yard and a lot fat treat. Take care everyone, WOOF.
Docker.

Hi All,
It has been a while. I have been busy in my new home and neighborhood. Making friends and marking my terrirtory. I have been on trips to Cape Breton and I have overnight sleeps with my girlfriend Hershey. I really enjoyed swims and summer field sports. I was doing great until the other weekend when my neck, under my lower jaw, started swelling up like the goodyear blimp!!!

It had to happen on Friday evening of the long weekend. Mom doesn't know if it was a bee sting or a spider bite I was allergic to or maybe that stick I chewed, that I wasn't suppose to, might have done it. Mom nursed me all weekend but on Monday I had to go to the dreaded vet!!!! When I got there they talked to Dad and then Dad left me there ( I do not think Mom would have so easily abandonned me). They took me into a room later that day and then the lights went out. When I woke up my neck was sore but not so big. My neck was cold as they had shaved all my brown fur. There were straws sticking out on either side of my neck and they were dripping. What a mess I had to contend with!!!! but I must say my neck got better really fast and now I'm fit as a fiddle. Mom says I have to get my stitches out tomorrow....I'm not sure I like the sound of that.
One good thing is that Grandma and Papa really spoil me bunches now. Gotta have some good kick backs 'cause I'm so darn handsome!!!
Got to go now and look real cute to get a Tim Horton run.
Keep in touch all my pals!!!!
WOOF,
Docker
