it is cold

today it is -25 and my paws are cold & if i stand still they hurt. i am spending a lot of time indoors. If i go outside i have to play chase the laser pointer to keep warm !

Charlie is much better at this cold weather thing & its not fair, i have no husky in me obviously.....

Well, i haven't written for a while, it is a bit difficult as human mom is always on the pc doing work stuff.

We have had lots of dogs staying here, boarding over the Summer time. Mom runs a home boarding service for dogs & I have met weiner dogs, chihuahua's, rotti's and a few retrievers.... i had to share my tennis balls and squeaky toys with them too !! We even had another dog stay called Rudy which was very confusing as i thought that was just my name..

I have nearly finished at intermediate Agility & we have set up 3 jumps & some weave poles at home so i can practice. Mom says i am better at agility than i am at flyball - although that's not difficult !!

Human Dad won me a new crate at our Club's flyball tournament in Langham in September ! It is huge & i can stretch out in it lots. Judah has my old one now & he keeps sleeping in it at night, in the house, as its starting to get cold at night here now. He is old & i think he prefers the warmth of the house to the cold of the night outside.

Soon it will be winter & we will get to jump in snow drifts & eat snow again. BOL :D can't wait !!

Rudy Stays in a Motel

It was a while back now, but i had fun in Edmonton, best bit was i got to sleep ON the bed ( it was a bit hard ) i got lots of treats off mum, and i got to pee up lots of unfamiliar trees...but boy was it hot up there !!

The man at the front desk in the Motel ( Super 8 ) gave me lots of pats & spoke silly to me ..these things happen when i wagg my tail :)

Well, we got to the flyball tournament, apparently the main reason i was there was i was supposed to catch all the balls & not be naughty..oops i sort of forgot & managed to slip a few grrrr's out at Rage & Thomas & probably most of my team mates as i passed them at the start line...i managed to get the ball properly a few times but i really screwed up Sunday & crossed over to the other lane to see what their ball tasted like and apparently i can't do that. EVER AGAIN OR ELSE SAYS MUM !!!! The rest of the team managed superbly with out my presence ( can't think why ?!?) & managed to do rather well in the end. I had to be content with cheering from the sidelines all day....

ho hum back to training for me. Mum can't understand why i growl as i don't do it at home...i don't know either, it just pops out :-)

I started Agility too at the same place Charlie went to and that is fun. I have to do stuff on my own & there's no racing against other dogs....

Back at home Dad has built us a fence around the house & yard so we have an acre of running room without Mum having to worry if we have ran off ! ( Charlie & Judah are you listening ? ) Judah loves it and he is off leash now all the time, i have been good & not tried to jump the fence although i am sure i could if i wanted to..but why would i want to ?!?

The gophers have infiltrated our compound, i keep dropping my balls down their holes. it is most annoying as i can't figure out where all my balls have gone ! D'oh !

Rudy goes to Edmonton...maybe

Well it seems i might be on another adventure..maybe..i have volunteered me & my mum to go to another flyball tournament on the 14th & 15th of July.

I have promised to catch all the balls waiting for me at the box, WITHOUT barking at the other dogs in the opposing lane...

To get in the mood, i practised this on tuesday at flyball club... i was ok - ish but i managed a little grrrruffff at the other dog before getting my ball. It's hard !! i keep thinking the other dog is after MY ball - and i just have to say MINE !!

Mum says this little trip is costing a small fortune (!) & i'd better do well otherwise i won't be allowed to sit on the front seat on the ride home. Dad is staying at home to look after everyone else so it will be just me & mum & we are staying in a hotel - yippee -i get my OWN human bed. I will of course pretend to fall asleep in my dog bed but then sneak up when i think Mum is asleep.

Other than that i have had another bath ( uurrgghh ) and Mum has been letting Judah stay indoors when she gets home from work which has been nice, she says it is too hot outside for him & he is scared of thunder & needs our company. Big Wuss. It means we get lots of treats though BOL !

uh oh, trip to the groomers..

last friday i was allowed to go to work with my human mom, Great i thought, what a treat!! I have learned that i should not be so trusting!!!!
All was going well, i was even allowed to accompany my mom while she walked some dogs which was cool, but at 2pm i was abandoned at a "groomers" in Saskatoon NOT COOL!!

I was booked to have a bath (yuk) and a general clean up as apparently i am a messy boy & have been rolling around in too much horse pooh !

I did not enjoy one single moment of my time at the groomers!!! But i was very good & did everything they asked me to do, i even sat still ( sort of ) while they dried me with a scary fur drier which was big & loud and the sort of thing that i would usually run away from.

When my mom came in to get me, i wasn't quite dry & i went to jump off the table to greet her & nearly took the table with me !! She had to hide around the corner until i was ready so i couldn't see her !

It was all worth while in the end as i got some raw bones to chew on & lots of attention because i was all sparkly & smelled lovely.

Human Mom would like to add that this lovely clean Rudy lasted 2 days...he was rolling around in muck again by Sunday....Dogs will be Dogs!

ok, so i have been very busy lately!! so here goes with all my news:

i caught some balls ( not all ) at the flyball tournament in May, hello to anyone who went too. I did ok considering it was my first time, i came home with my FD & FDX patches YAY!!

I went on an adventure last week to say hello to the horses that live next door....why do horses kick so hard when they say hello ?!?!?!

I now have an extra scar on my chin & 3 fewer teeth than i did before my adventure.....not sure i like horses....

Charlie is looking after me lots, she sniffs my chin & licks my gummy mouth too. Humans called me Gummy Bear for a few days & i felt very woozy after my visit to the vet to have my teeth removed.

I can still catch balls though !!!

Got my first TICK !!! YUK!!! actually got about 5 of them, Human Dad had to pick them out as Mom got squirmy !! It doesn't help that i am black furred. She can't see them until she is petting me then it's UURRGGHH!!!! TICK !!

Wearing Tick collar 24 / 7 now - until Mom can put together natural repellant if there is one that works!!

thats it for now ! loving the acreage ( ticks / horses aside ) not caught a gopher yet...

Rudy makes Flyball Team & Moves to the countryside all in- the same week !

Do they really know what they are letting them selves in for.....?! For some reason, I, Rudy, the former pound puppy, who was adpoted just over a year ago by Charlie & her Human Family am going to be in a Flyball Tournament in Warman, SK held on May 12-13th......BIG BOL !!!

Note from Mom: Actually Rudy knows what he is doing it is human Mom who forgets stuff from week to week....ask anyone at Diamonds in the Ruff flyball club (!)

And to top it all off, we have all moved onto an acreage near Borden, SK, COOL !! Lots of trees to sniff, lots of deer poop to roll in and plenty of space for me to run & catch balls, frisbee etc etc

My adventures so far: went investigating while my dad was not looking & met the neighbours horses ( big & scary) and their dogs ( nice). Charlie lost her collar and wouldn't come back to Dad when he called us so the neighbours had to bring her home with one of their leashes!! Oops. When Mom came home we got big kisses but Dad got told off BOL !!
Every time we go out for a last pee at night we see deers asleep in our field, and our snow is still deep which is grrreat, we love our new house :)

Rudy eats Cactus

As in the plant, cactus - that one with spikey bits designed to warn off silly animals that may decide they would like a snack...

Human Mum Came home to find bits of cactus on dog bed, only one culprit really, as Charlie stays in her crate while Mum goes to work....

Oh dear Rudy, you may regret eating that when it's time to come out the other end !!!

This choice of snack surpassess in the stupidity stakes that of Twizzlers , tinsel & bar of chocolate Rudy ate over Christmas.
Chocolate doesn't make Rudy ill, but HYPER !!!! Twizzlers make him do red poo & tinsel makes him not eat for 3 days then empty sparkly contents of stomach into snow at 5am.

We love you Rudy :)

Flyball's back YAY !

Today i started back at Flyball, intermediate classes this time.

Only 5 doggies have continued on from the novice class, Me, Jesse, Jock, Harley & a dog called Max ( i think - not sure). A big high five because my best pal there Jesse came back so I did a big wag of my tail BOL !

And we both did very well today & made our Humans very happy & excited ! For the first time we both ran all the way to the box, got the ball and ran back over the jumps, straight to our humans who had to dance round looking silly so we'd go to them :)

We both tried to cheat & run outside the jumps but we decided that it was better to do what the Humans wanted because good things happened then.

At the end of practice, we had a go at running back & ignoring the next dog who was ready to run. I went straight to my Mum which amazed her & i ignored the decoy dog perfectly :) Paws up to me !!

I came home tired & Happy and played in the yard with Charlie for an hour. They have just graded our road after the blizzard so there is no where to walk when we go walkies, all the road snow is now on the path ways !!

blizzard !!

yesterday we had a huge blizzard in Saskatoon, there was wind, snow, drifts, funny noises,we couldn't go out on a walk as Mum couldn't see the road !!

I sat on the deck in the middle of the blizzard & ate my chew stick. Mum said i was crazy but it was like sitting in an igloo as the snow had stuck to the fly screen & stopped the wind coming in!! BOL

When it died down a little Me & Charlie played outside in all the new snow drifts in our yard it was GREAT!!! It was like being at the dog park :D

Today it is -32 but we don't care & just wanna go & play some more !!

Charlie is smaller than me & gets stuck in the snow, it is so funny hahha
