Pongo came into the animal shelter at 3 months old. After several days of screaming and biting the bars, she learned how to poop into other dogs' cages. Eventually, she got adopted by a couple who returned her for being too bitey, for which her current family is very grateful. She moved to Manhattan in the summer of 1995. After a few years on the Upper West Side, kickin' it with her Riverside Park Crew, she moved to the suburbs of Queens. After five years in the boroughs, she moved to another borough (Swarthmore, PA) and is slowly acclimating to live in the 'burbs, but, as it's also a college town, she feels it's a bit of a homecoming. Pongo is also a cancer survivor, and has fully recovered from an non-cancer-related emergency splenectomy during the summer of 2005. She is a tough little dog. Her cancer returned less than a year after her initial series of surgeries, and again after more surgery and radiation after that. Her leg was amputated in the late summer of 2007 and she is getting very good at hopping around, stealing food off the table, and playing up her three-leggedness to ingratiate herself to strangers (and make off with their food). She spends her days playing with her brother, Chaos, stealing snacks, shredding cardboard boxes, and keeping an eye on the rabbits in the backyard. Pongo is also a published author and won the "Poo Poo Award" in 1995 for her essay, "Never Eat a Ballet Shoe," which appears on the Bad Dog Chronicles website (www.baddogs.com) and in "Bad Dog!" (Howell Book House, ©2000) Pongo died on October 21, 2008. Her ashes were scattered under a witch hazel tree planted in her memory. We miss her.

Sweet! I have a Pup Pal! His name's Kaiser and he lives in Texas. Hi Kaiser! We're both into squirrels, so I'm sure we'll have a lot to talk about.

This is pretty cool--all the new features on Dogster now. My people still haven't created a page for my brother yet. Ha. I think they should just admit favoritism and be done with it.

New news for me--the bipeds have a new creature. It's a little like them and a little like a puppy and it touches me sometimes when I don't want it to. Chaos loves it. Anyway, it's been stealing some of my attention, but I felt a lot better about that when I realized that it also keeps them up at night. Heh. Who's the good dog NOW?!!!?!
