Arrival Story:
I had just moved to Maryland and had been living in Annapolis for 3 days in my new digs. I even had my own room. This couple happened upon my new home and thought it would be fun to play with me for a little bit. And boy, did I have fun with them, too. When my caretaker/servant man came over to take me back to me room, well, I felt just a little sad. I really liked these folks and I think they really liked me, too. I put my paw out to the female person (being a female myself, I thought she'd understand me better) and asked her if she was sure she wanted to send me back to my room. In turn, she looked at her male person who only shook his head and chuckled. I went back to my room. I thought maybe they would come and visit me again soon. No sooner had I settled myself down for the night when I was swept up and handed over to the waiting arms of that female person. I'm not sure what happened other than she said she was my new mommy and I was coming home with her and my new daddy. We got into this moving box (I really didn't like those things at that time) and I was introduced to my new home and family. They are so lucky that they found me. I don't know how they would survive without me. I bring lots of love into their lives, as well as excitement and maybe just a touch of trouble, but trouble is good! And so am I.

Pictures On My Page

I thought maybe I would explain the pictures on my page. I know. Pictures are worth a thousand words and are pretty much self-explanatory, but I just felt like making some additional comments. I'll probably change them around in the future, especially seeing as how I'm still growing.

Picture #1: That's me when I was almost 10 weeks old. This is one of Mommy's favorite pictures. Daddy calls it my "cheesecake" shot. I actually posed for that picture, don't 'cha know? This was taken the day I met my gramparents for the first time. Boy, did we have fun that day. Gramma always had food and special treats in her hand for me that day. Grampa always had a camera in front of his face. It took me hours before I finally saw his face and found out what he really looked like. Phew! Talk about your puparazzi.

Picture #2: This is me getting a bath for the first time. Mommy said this would be the funnest thing I'd ever done yet. You know what? She lied. Yep, that's right. A big, fat, bold-faced lie. Right to my snout. It was the most horrible experience I had had. Now don't get me wrong. I love water. Downpours that I can race around in, swimming pools that I can cool myself off in on a hot, summer day. Water can be a very positive experience. But baths? Confined to a 3 walled cell and everytime I try to get out? Denied! Oooh, the heartless torture of it all! And do you know what occured after the bath? Yep, that's right: hair dryer. The agony of it all. And then the creme de la creme. Ear-cleaning. It gives me shivers just thinking about it. And that's why I look miserable in that picture.

Picture #3: Born Freeeeee!!! Run, run, run, run! And then turn around and run, run, run, run! I love to run. It's one of my most favorite things to do. Even when I get tired, I rest for 5 minutes and then...run, run, run! I just can't help myself. I was born to run and run I must!

Picture #4: I just found the biggest and hugest stick ever at Gramma's and Grampa's! Isn't it enormous? Mommy kept trying to tell me it wasn't a stick, but a tree. Okay. It looked like, smelled like, and tasted like a stick. I just couldn't figure out how to pick it up, but I'm working on it.

Picture #5: "Oh, so hungry. So hungry. How much longer, Mommy?" Mommy likes to torture me. She'll ask me if I'm hungry, and then she'll take hours preparing my dinner. Alright, so maybe it's just minutes, but it feels like hours. "Gimme, gimme, gimme. I love food!"

Picture #6: That's my big girl picture. See how well-behaved I am sitting in the back seat of Mommy's car? I like Mommy's car better than Daddy's. So much more cozier. And yes, I now know that they are called cars and not moving boxes. The other day, though, Mommy and Daddy took me outside on the leash. Mommy gave Daddy a kiss and then she gave me a kiss. She opened her car door, so I tried to follow her, but Daddy wouldn't let me. I tried to tell him that I always got in the car before Mommy did, but he wouldn't listen. Then all of a sudden Mommy is in the car, closing the door, and driving away. Without ME! Can you believe it?

Well, that's all the pictures I have for now. I'll get Mommy to take some more pictures of me soon.

Luv & Tail Wags,
Grainne

How do you do?

Well...hmmm...I've never done anything like this before. It's all so new to me. I guess I should start off by telling you all a little bit about myself first.

I was born in South Dakota but ended up in Maryland. Boy, am I glad I did. That's where I found Mommy and Daddy and they sure are swell. And I have the world's best Gramma and Grampa. They let me run wild in their backyard. And there's so much to play with, too. There's grass and sticks and trees and leaves and dirt and lilies. I kind of had to replace some of Gramma's lilies though because I kind of, sort of trampled them in one of my running faster than the speed of light expeditions. So on Easter I gave her a whole new bunch of lilies and learned that she hadn't really been too mad in the first place. It turns out she has more lilies than she knows what to do with; but, she still loved the lilies I gave her because she loves me so much.

And guess what! I also have another set of grandparents. Can you believe it? Two full, complete sets. I'm so excited and happy. Unfortunately my other set lives in Illinois and I haven't met them yet, but I hope to one day soon. They have a doggie named Molly. She's a cocker spaniel and quite a bit older than me. Daddy doesn't think we'll get along at all but I'll have to at least try and be friends with her. That is if I ever get to meet her. She doesn't travel much. Well, neither do I, but I'm hoping that will one day change.

Let's see...what else...well, I was born on January 2 of this year so I'm just having fun being a puppy. Mommy and Daddy are trying to ruin all that fun by making me go to school and then on top of that, do homework. Sheesh! At least I have the summer off, but then I have to go back in the fall. I guess it wasn't all bad, though I'm a little reluctant to admit it. The coolest was that I got to meet lots of new people and puppies. I even had a boyfriend. My very first one! His name was Rocco and he's a Boston Terrier. We liked giving each other hugs all the time. He was so smart and well-behaved. He graduated the top of our class. We won't talk about where I graduated. I did really try hard though. It's just that whole "staying" business. I mean really, where am I going to use that outside of the classroom? It's just not practical. And standing? Oh joy. I know how to stand already people. Why do I have to do that on command? What will that accomplish? Humans have some very nutty ideas sometimes.

Look at that. I didn' t think I'd have anything to say and there I went, just rambling on and on. Who knew? I guess a lot has happened to me since March 16th, the day I adopted my new family. I'm sure a lot more will continue to happen, too, so I'll be back chronicling the rest.

Licks and nose prints to you all,
Grainne
