 Likes: Being with people

Pet-Peeves: Riding in the car

Favorite Toy: Stuffed phesant dollie

Favorite Food: Most anything

Favorite Walk: Short... they wear him out

Best Tricks: Breathing heavy and not hyperventilating

Arrival Story: We went to the Humane Society on Fredericksburg Rd in San Antonio, Texas, looking for a puppy, and we noticed a small one that everyone kept looking at, but not taking out, and when we went to see him, we found that he was missing his back left leg. My husband said "I've always wanted a three-legged dog" and that was that!

Bio: Rufus was apparently born with a withered left rear leg. By the time we met him, his leg had been amputated, along with the hip, and the incision had mostly healed. The humane society said he was 6 weeks at the time, but we think he was much younger. He was 3 pounds when we brought him home... now he's over 70! He gets around great, but can tire quickly.

My mom gave me a bath this morning, which is great because it gets all that old itchy fur off (a bonus since I can't scratch it off myself, and for some reason she doesn't really like me licking it off...??...). Now I am clean, shiny and smell like oranges (I get to have the Suave Kids 2-in-1 Orange Blossom). I went after Abbey today at bath time, so by the time I got out, she was really tired after re-arranging all the rugs in the house. I like to go outside after my bath. There used to be a few patches of dirt in the backyard that I liked to lay in after my baths (I don't know why Mom hated that), but now there's new grass there, and that's even better! I guess I better head off to bed too!

Well, like my big sis' Abbey said, it's nice to meet all these new friends, and in only a few hours I have met so many dogs. Since I get so tired on long walks, and since I absolutely HATE riding in the car, I don't leave home all that often, so it's nice to make friends from the comfort of my home. A lot of people feel sorry for me that I am missing a leg, but most of the time I don't even notice... except when I'm itchy, especially on my left side, and then I have to get my owners to scratch me, but it feels so good!! Plus I get some extra attention. I have also figured out that being brushed isn't all that bad either, although Abbey hates it! But today's a good day because the sun is out, and there's water in the birdbath for me to drink, but for now, I'll just finish up my nap before my dad gets home from work!
