One Dog's Tail (Tale)

Lots of good things happened in the last few days!

Okay, so Mom had put in for vacation time for yesterday thinking that she had a concert to go to. Turns out, the concert isn't until TOMORROW. AND she forgot that she had put in for time off, so she went to work as usual - but her boss reminded her that she had requested time off, so she didn't have to stay! YAY! Of course that meant more time to play with ME, plus an extra walk!

Then today, a catalog arrived from Only Natural Pet that showed Mom lots of good things she could be feeding me and using on me for those nasty fleas and mosquitos. That don't contain icky chemicals. Yay again!

AND, our sample pack of Flint River Ranch foods arrived! I can't eat the kibbles that have chicken, so those are going to the Dane County Humane Society. But Mom gave me pieces of Lamb Millet & Rice and Fish & Chips as treats, and I LOVED them! Yum!

Anyway I gotta go, I got lots of fetch time today so I'm pooped!

I completed 2 more titles recently:

SM (Snuggle Monster)
TD10 (Toy Deconstructor - at least 10 to my credit)

What ARE all those titles for??

Mom has decided that I've earned the following titles:
NPC (Naughty Pup Club)
DBE (Dog Blogger Extraordinaire)
STCH (Snow Tornado CHampion)
LP1 (Leash Puller 1st Class)
CR (Command Reverser)

She's so weird sometimes. I mean, I can't type, can I? So how come I'm the dog blogger extraordinaire? And what's wrong with doing a sit when she says down, anyway?

I blame it on this thread. My name was just fine before it had all those silly letters added on.

I'd better work on training her...after my nap. -yawn-

My Tail of Devotion for Callie

Without you my life would be so much emptier. I can't imagine why your previous owners chose not to make time in their lives for you. Did they know they weren't meant to have you?

I suppose that is one question I'll never be able to answer. All I know is that when you walked into that adoption room at the Dane County Humane Society, and those soulful brown eyes met mine, my eleven-month search for a dog was over and my life had taken a wonderful new turn!

Every day you challenge me with your independence, intelligence and energy, and every day I do my best to be a patient, loving, consistent, yet not too dominant leader. It's a real adjustment for someone who has lived with cats for 16 years. But you are the most forgiving animal I know, and though both of us have a lot to learn, together we have accomplished a great deal. My greatest hope is that someday I will have the skills to help you reach your potential - and if that should happen, the world will take notice!

Love, hugs and kisses from your human mom Maria

Which means I get to see how hard I can make Mom work to keep me under control while I have fun!

Obedience classes are fun!

Today my mom and HER mom took me to my first obedience class. I was kind of confused at first because the class was at the same place they picked me up from, so I wasn't sure what was going on when we got out of the van. I was glad when they didn't take me in through the big front door the way my other humans did when they left me there. Instead, I got to go around to a side door into a big room with lots of lights and people - and treats! Then some other dogs arrived and I thought they would make great playmates. I guess Mom didn't think so because she made me stay away from them and pay attention to her during the class. (It's hard for me to keep my mind on her when there are other dogs around - I just want to play with them SO badly!) I guess I wasn't the only dog with this problem because the first thing the instructor showed our humans was how to get us to pay attention to them! I know "Sit" quite well, so I wasn't sure why they wanted us to go through that, but I guess it made sense to the instructor. We also worked on "Come" which is a concept I know already unless there's something REALLY interesting to explore in the other direction, and "Good!" Mom and I have some things to work on, especially with the paying attention, but this obedience thing seems like an easy way to get treats! Anyway, we get to go back next week! I'll make sure that Mom keeps posting about our progress...

Happy tails,
