Arrival Story: Callie was born on a farm sometime in April, 2005. About a year later, she was sold to someone from Madison, Wisconsin. This apparently was a purchase they hadn't thought through very well; they lived in an apartment which was empty for 9-10 hours a day while they were at work. After a week of this, they realized she deserved better and took her to the Humane Society. I was in search of a dog that was fairly young, housetrained, medium sized, shorthaired and not a guardian type mix, and when I saw her profile, I could tell she was a sweetheart! Needless to say she fit that description quite well, and when I met her in person - well, those brown eyes looked straight into mine and said "Take me home!" So I did, on May 6th, 2006 - the day before my 26th birthday. She is the best birthday present I've ever gotten - and since I don't know her real birthday, we'll just celebrate both of ours on May 7th next year. Can't be more than 37 days late anyways :)
Bio: While we don't know much about her life on the farm, it would surprise me very much to learn that she was an outside dog. She's very social and well behaved (in spite of a tendency to grab for treats), stays off the furniture and has never had an accident in the house. (The previous owners said she almost never pottied anywhere EXCEPT in their house; all I can figure is that their flooring must have felt like grass to Callie...) She is also well behaved in the car and at the vet's office - she thinks of the vet as just another friend/playmate/potential source of treats!

Okay, so Mom had put in for vacation time for yesterday thinking that she had a concert to go to. Turns out, the concert isn't until TOMORROW. AND she forgot that she had put in for time off, so she went to work as usual - but her boss reminded her that she had requested time off, so she didn't have to stay! YAY! Of course that meant more time to play with ME, plus an extra walk!
Then today, a catalog arrived from Only Natural Pet that showed Mom lots of good things she could be feeding me and using on me for those nasty fleas and mosquitos. That don't contain icky chemicals. Yay again!
AND, our sample pack of Flint River Ranch foods arrived! I can't eat the kibbles that have chicken, so those are going to the Dane County Humane Society. But Mom gave me pieces of Lamb Millet & Rice and Fish & Chips as treats, and I LOVED them! Yum!
Anyway I gotta go, I got lots of fetch time today so I'm pooped!
